The hotel needs to immediately work on its reception staff. They are so unhelpful and unfriendly. There is such a big difference between the service of the reception staff and the staff at the restaurants or the cleaning staff. Reception staff are like robots who follow a script and behave inhumanly. Another thing to note is that we were placed in the worst building of the hotel. We haven’t accepted that and had to pay an upgrade to get a better room, with which we were happy. The staff at the restaurant and bars are very friendly and hard working. Thanks a lot for that. The manager lady (from Croatia) was so kind and friendly and helpful- she managed to get us a booking at the restaurant for my birthday and that was extremely appreciated. Thanks so much for such kind gesture! Look, the place is clean, green and beautiful, but you have these people at reception who within minutes can ruin your mood. We enjoyed here our stay, and might even recommend it to our friends who plan on visiting Zanzibar, but we need to see improvements in customer service!

While the villas could use some refurbishment and modernization, they are quite spacious. The staff were exceptionally friendly, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The food was excellent, offering plenty of choices, and the overall service was top-notch. The location is also fantastic. However, it was a bit too noisy at night, so the management might want to consider that.

So our reviews in the first and last day were completely different, I left the hotel with many sweet memories and a big smile. People are very friendly and helpful, many things to do around. The hotel’s garden is very beautiful. Sea is just stunning, even that is enough to choose Riu. I would give 5 if food would be better but that part didn’t give us 5 star hotel experience.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon here in July 2024. Everything was exceptions - from the views, to the amenities, to the FOOD, to the lovelist / happiest staff. We loved our week in Zanzibar and can't recommend Riu Palace enough. Hope we can go back one day.
