I highly recommend the Fives Oceanfront. I stayed here for three days on my own (female) and felt safe, welcome and was met with friendly but professional service from all the team. The rooms and all facilities are exceptionally clean, and the outside spaces are also very clean, and you can see the staff taking care of the grounds every day.
The food in the bars and restaurants is excellent quality, and the drinks are tasty (and strong!) too!
The hotel was around 30% capacity during my trip, so I’m not sure how it will feel during high season, but during my stay (September) it was busy enough to be lively and fun, but it was also easy to get a quiet sun lounger or space in the pool.
Puerto Morelos is very safe - and there are loads of fun bars and restaurants if you feel like a change one day.
I will definitely be returning.

The server Eric, we had him for a few days both on the second dining room and first floor dining room he is a wonderful server, in terms of not just serving food and drinks. Eric always asked if we're okay or if we needed anything, how we liked our food. Always had a great smile and attended to each and everyone of us with respect.
The second floor kitchen supervisor made it a point to introduce himself to us and enquire how we liked our food, which we thought was wonderful. The second night we ate there he made a especial appetizer for us, which was a surprise, we thought that was also wonderful and very thoughtful of him.

Mix reviews. The location is top notch. We had a serious problem with our room and water dripping in from the top floor and the whole room smelled like mildew. The beach is beautiful. The restaurants are good. Something that I thought was really not cool was that I caught the bartender washing the plastic cups. Now you have recyclable disposable plastic cups for people to drink out of why are you washing them and reusing them? I had a great time, Puerto Morelos is beautiful, but if I go back, I would not stay there.

You get what you pay for. This is basically a 3.5 resort in a small new town in Mexico. It’s a bit chaotic and unorganized, they could cultivate a more relaxing atmosphere (turn down the music please or no music - just beach waves) and the services and amenities they provide are confusing (also, it sounds like other people had problems with them). BUT room was clean and cool and it’s one of the best beach lounges in the area. At the edge of town but walkable. Our balcony faced the jungle and the pool upstairs made the experience for me. My suggestion, book the most basic package/room (maybe a little more for included breakfast). And just plan to get most meals and booked tours in town. If you want an all inclusive beach experience, I would go to Cancun or Cozumel. If you’re willing to put in a little more effort getting out of the hotel - worth the price.

My stay at The Fives was amazing! The hotel is well kept and stunning. I was pleased with the services I received and the staff was wonderful and very welcoming. Angel from the management team went above and beyond to make sure my stay felt like home, and it did! Adrian who works the services by the beach area was also wonderful and provided me with outstanding service. I would hands down highly recommend The Fives Oceanfront to friends and family and will definitely return next time I visit Mexico!
