Good hotel with decent views, the open beach is a big plus if your going on a holiday and want to enjoy the sea breeze. The food and the service is not perfect but good enough to enjoy some free time. Prefer getting the rooms by the ocean view since it’s easier to go to the dining area, have a good view of the hotel and the sea. Good for families with 2 pools available and plenty of playing spaces.

Had a pleasure and cozy experience during long weekend and our this year first visit. Beach front quiet property with green lush garden. Best place for kids and foods were super delicious. Ground floor rooms are easy to access to the pool and as well the beach.

Quiet peaceful location with beach front ... Nice pool ... Don't let the appearance from the outside bother you.. It is an old building but a very comfortable place ... Most impressive was the service rendered by polite dedicated personnel ... Thanuja, and her able assistants at the reception desk provided excellent service to our group of friends Food was above average with a wide variety of choices during a holiday weekend. Competitive pricing ... Overall very satisfied with our stay.

Very good for a family stay. The place is very calm and you feel relaxed throughout the stay. There was a good spread in the buffet and the food was delicious. The staff is very friendly and supportive. Had a really good experience.

We had an incredible time at this hotel. It truly embodies the essence of a Sri Lankan hotel experience. The food was simply fantastic, and the service was impeccable—I can’t recall the last time a manager personally visited each table to inquire about our experience. The location was fantastic, and the rooms were spotlessly clean and well-maintained. I must also commend their environmentally friendly approach, as they’ve eliminated single-use plastics from the rooms (except for the laundry bags). It’s truly remarkable. We would definitely return in the future.

Greet Fit

I recently stayed at this hotel and, unfortunately, had a very disappointing experience. We were charged for a Deluxe Room, but upon arrival, we were allocated a Standard Room instead. Even if it was indeed a Standard Room, the quality did not meet the expectations of a 4-star hotel—the room was far below acceptable standards in terms of cleanliness, comfort, and overall condition. I have attached photos as proof to support my feedback. For fellow travelers considering this hotel: I strongly advise exploring other options. There are better places that truly offer the quality and service they promise.

We stayed at Goldi Sands in February, the room was basic but good enough for our stay. We were in the older part of the hotel. Very clean and quiet. The service was first class, nothing was too much trouble. All the staff made our holiday that more special. The food was lovely, always spoilt for choice. They always had live music through out dinner which was a lovely touch. Excellent location to relax or tour. We are already looking forward to returning again next year. Highly recommend! We stayed at Golden Sands Beach for 10 nights, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst experiences we've had. We expected warmth and hospitality but instead witnessed disturbing behavior. Staff members were seen throwing stones at dogs, kicking them, chasing them, and using sticks. This kind of treatment is absolutely unacceptable. When I requested to speak with the general manager, he claimed that this was supposedly the hotel’s policy and that water was used to drive the dogs away, which clearly wasn't the case. We are not the first to complain about this, and yet, nothing was done. I also raised concerns about the considerable food waste displayed on a sign showing the monthly amount wasted and suggested they feed the dogs, but once again, I was told it was against their policy. The reason the dogs come around is that they are hungry and thirsty, especially in 35-degree heat without access to water. We have pictures documenting the staff’s abuse of the animals. In 2025, animal cruelty should never be accepted. Furthermore, the room cleaning was consistently late, and while some staff members were kind and helpful, this was not the case for everyone. We left feeling deeply disappointed. There was also excessive noise at night and a very poor internet connection.

We had a fantastic family getaway here. The location was perfect, offering easy access to a clean, beautiful beach, and the pool was impeccably maintained. The dining experience was a highlight, every meal we had was excellent, the Sri Lankan dishes standing out for their incredible flavors and variety. However, our experience at the bar was disappointing. The bartender was unwelcoming and seemed uninterested in serving us at the bar, instead repeatedly asking us to move to a table even when the bar area was empty. While we initially assumed this was due to a busy night, his attitude remained the same the following evening. This unprofessional behavior undermines the potential of what could be a great bar experience. I have shared this feedback with the manager and hope it will lead to improvements. Despite this issue, I would still recommend this place for its overall experience and value for money. The location, amenities, and dining make it a great choice for a family getaway.

A wonderful hotel in the style of the colonial era. Excellent beach and great location. Great hotel service, a manager who cares about quality and relations with clients (polite, cordial and professional). Hotel, garden, beach and pool - all wonderfully maintained. Excellent food. And great location. I recommend to everyone!
