The hotel and the included breakfast is fine and reasonable priced.
They charged an extra 150 us dollars for a tax they had given no information about when booking through their own website. And when confronyted about it they did not really care about their mistake. Disapointing.
The worst part was the options for lunch and diner. The food is not very good and very overpriced. Expect food to be 3 times higher than a similar restaurant in Dar and drinks and coffee to be up to 5 times higher. They take advantage of the fact that you have no other options once you are there.
The menu card is very limited and the western dishes are very bad.
They charged 80 us dollars for a pick up at the ferry. Going back to the ferry we aranged transportation directly with the same taxi and payed 25 dollars!
The staff is friendly but often confusing and you can wait very long time for food and drinks.

We had a great time during our 6-night, 7-day stay at Lux. The staff were friendly and accommodating, making our son feel welcome and that he had friends in them!
The beach was nice, but be aware that this side of the island generally has more seaweed. However, the beach still offers beautiful views, especially for sunrise.
The pool was nice, and I personally found the spa experience to be so relaxing. The food was also good!
Our room was comfortable, although we experienced a couple of issues: the AC occasionally switched off, and for two days, the shower heater was not functioning, so we unluckily had cold showers. However, when we brought these matters to the attention of the staff, they were addressed right away. Other points they can work on is maybe a door between the toilet and room so that the light from outside doesn’t come into the room
They have a kids club which is small but still nice - could be an area for improvement if more families with kids start coming here
Overall, we had a great time. If we return to Zanzibar, I would likely choose to stay at Lux Marijani again. As a goodbye, we left a wishing card on their wishing tree :)

The LUX Marijani is hands down one of the best hotels I’ve ever been to. Starting with the customer service when you enter, all the staff are super nice! The room was very clean and looked super beautiful! Their breakfast and dinner was delicious with a whole lot of variety, and the beach view was just great! They have a gym, infinity pool, and a bunch of events happening throughout the day. I participated in water aerobics and sandbank yoga during low tide.

We recently spent 4 nights over Easter at this beautiful hotel. I can honestly say if relaxation is what you are looking for then this is the place to be. It is very laid back with beautiful scenery, perfectly manicured gardens,a crystal clear pool and a picture perfect beach. The staff are super friendly and are only too willing to please. They really are willing to go the extra mile to keep their guests happy. The rooms are beautiful, spacious and have all the amenities you need. The meals are well planned and will keep all taste buds happy. The daily fresh sea food is heavenly. You will not leave disappointed.

The hotel is located on a very nice white sand beach with great views. The staff during our stay was very attentive and friendly. There were different functions during the day like water polo and volleyball, then at night different functions such as live music and open air movies. We really enjoyed our stay, the only downside was with the food. We had just the breakfast included, so when it came to supper, the choices got limited. The supper buffet was okay, but for the price, I have had way better for a lot less. They have a small ala cart menu, but again, it's pricey. I would suggest booking the full board option.
