Beautiful location….lush tropical landscaping throughout resort. The beach is beautiful to walk on but would not swim in the water as it is cloudy due to river but thoroughly enjoyed the pool. The entertainment staff was amazing and so energetic. Loved the water aerobics everyday with Luis A and rest of team. The rooms could use some upgrading with bathroom doors and exterior doors but they were prompt to address concerns. Our last night was met with a big smile from a wonderful young man named Nathaniel…such a pleasure! Overall I would return if you are looking for a place not over crowded and place to relax, this is it!

This was the second time we've stayed at the hotel. The first time was fabulous, the second ... well wasn't without faults. We booked (and paid a hefty Tui charge) for an ocean view room. Unless we had our own gardener to cut down the extensive greenery between us and the sea, as well as having a pair of strong binoculars ... well there'd be no chance of seeing the sea. The first room we had we found a plug socket dangerously hanging off the wall and the air con just didn't work. And so we spoke with reception ... and they couldn't have been nicer. They agreed the room choice was poor on their behalf .. they said the room will be now out of service until they've rectified the faults we raised. And the hotel then moved us to a fabulous room. Smack bang in front of the sea. The hotel took what could have been a real negative and turned around into a real positive. Another point to share, I had issue getting onto the hotel wifi. The reception staff and their IT manager tried for an hour and wouldn't give up till they'd cracked this and got me the access I needed. I would recommend this hotel .. without hesitation.

Overall Rating: 2/5 Stars I recently stayed at the Bahia Principe Luxury Bouganville, and unfortunately, my experience fell far short of expectations for a “luxury” resort. From the food to the drinks and overall atmosphere, it felt more like a budget option than the upscale getaway it claims to be. Here’s a breakdown of my stay: Food and Dining: 1/5
The food was incredibly mediocre across the board. Everything lacked flavor, and the buffet offered zero variety, literally the same menu every single day. Room service was no better, with the exact same limited options. Breakfast and lunch were particularly challenging; I stuck to what I thought were safe choices, but even a simple hamburger was messed up. The only slight improvement came from the specialty restaurants for dinner, which were better but still nothing special or memorable. If you’re a foodie, this place will disappoint. Few paid options at lunch which for me, beats the purpose of the all inclusive experience. Drinks: 2/5
The drink selection was severely limited. Beer was mostly Presidente, which wasn’t bad, but everything else tasted like watered-down mocktails spiked with Brugal rum. No international brands. No real variety or quality in cocktails, making the all-inclusive aspect feel underwhelming. Room and Service: 1/5
Upon entering my room, I noticed a small bottle of Brugal on the table, a nice touch, or so I thought. But not even five minutes later, a hotel employee (possibly room service or housekeeping) was pounding on the door insistently. She barely waited two seconds before barging in without permission, demanding the bottle back. This blatant invasion of privacy over something worth maybe $5 was shocking and set a terrible tone for the stay. The rooms themselves were fine but nothing luxurious. On a positive note, most employees were super helpful and friendly in their day-to-day interactions. However, it really bothered me that I was borderline harassed by staff trying to sell me the Privilege Club or a service at the Spa. They were everywhere, and I wasn’t left alone, not even at the pool. This constant upselling made relaxation impossible. Facilities and Atmosphere: 3/5
The facilities are okay, clean enough and functional, but don’t expect anything truly luxurious despite the name. The biggest mismatch was the guest demographic: the average age seemed to be around 70 to 75, so if you’re younger and hoping for a lively or vibrant crowd, this isn’t the spot. It felt more like a retirement retreat than a fun vacation destination. In summary, while there were a few minor positives like the specialty dinners being tolerable and most staff being helpful, the overall lack of quality in food, drinks, and the intrusive sales tactics made this a disappointing trip. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re okay with basic amenities and an older crowd. Save your money for a resort that actually delivers on the “luxury” promise. I definitely feel like I overpaid for this stay

I must say that it has been the best experience ever!! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The entertainment team is the best of the best, so talented and cheerful. Special thanks to Evelyn from the entertainment group, Christian from reception, Cindy from the Orquidia Restaurant, the bar team members, everyone was amazing!! Thank you so so much! We definitely coming back!!

Great place, friendly staff. Rooms as cleaned to a high standard, replenishment of the mini bar daily as well as fresh towels. Drinks are made well, although at times the wait time is long. Thursday - Sunday the hotel is open to locals and service times drop significantly. Seems that the staff favour them over holidaying guests (with a tip or two they will serve you faster). Overall a great family hotel with outstanding entertainment.
