This hotel is very family friendly. The staff are amazing! They make the experience stand out from other resorts and we travel a lot. Dec 24-29 was our stay. Santa had gifts for all of the children. Luis at the lobby bar is my favorite. Adolofo in the main buffet and Italian restaurant went above and beyond to make my husband's birthday one to remember. The Mini Club for children is excellent. The staff are fun and warm. The children get to do fun activities and meet new people. The beach has a lot of jellyfish so be careful especially with young children. The food is top notch with so many varieties. The rooms are 7/10. They need to be updated can use some smart TVs but still clean and comfortable.

We stayed at Bahia Principe Grand La Romana with our kids (4y and 1y) and had a mixed but overall decent experience. ⭐ Pros Service: Quick response whenever we needed assistance. Maintenance and housekeeping addressed issues promptly. Cleanliness: The resort was very clean overall, including common areas and rooms. The staff were constantly always cleaning. Kids Club: A great option for families—our kids enjoyed it. Outstanding Service at Pescador: Huge shoutout to Kensi, the waiter at the Pescador restaurant. Once we mentioned we were vegetarian, he went above and beyond—fully respecting our dietary needs and even arranging special vegetarian dishes when no other restaurant or buffet did. Truly exceptional service for us and our kids. City Tour: The city tour with Air Canada Vacations was amazing—well organized, timely, and enjoyable. Entertainment: Evening entertainment was pleasant and family-friendly. Rooms: Rooms were clean, with no spiders or iguanas, which we appreciated however very outdated. ⭐ Cons Vegetarian Food Options (Major Issue): Extremely poor. We survived on fries and plain white sauce pasta most days. Even when vegetarian options were labeled, cutlery and serving spoons were mixed with non-vegetarian food, which was very disappointing. This needs serious improvement. The only reason we had proper vegetarian meals was 1 night and that was because of Kensi at Pescador restaurant —nowhere else. The pizza in the buffet was never fresh either. Rooms Outdated: The rooms are very old—barely any plugs, hot water took a long time to come on, old iron, hairdryer had a burning smell, and the safe stopped working. To their credit, almost everything was replaced once we complained. Towels: The resort ran out of towels when it got busy so I'd suggest bringing your own. The resort has potential, great staff, and is very clean, but vegetarian travellers should be cautious. Proper vegetarian catering and food-handling practices are needed. Special thanks again to Kensi, who truly made a difference in our stay. Would consider returning only if food options and room updates improve. Overall had a lovely stay.

We stayed at this resort from Dec 21st to Dec 26th 2025. Beautiful location, and very well planned . The rooms and amenities were great and we were very well looked after by the team .. a special shout out to Juanica our housekeeper who did a commendable job and always that sweet smile 😊.. We had some hiccups using the app so could not experience all the restaurants other than the Mediterranean cuisine as the other à la carte restaurants were already booked out . The buffet was good but my husband being a vegetarian did not get much choices that was sad … we also saw some other vegetarian families struggle . Maybe some more consideration can be given to that to include more dishes other than grilled or boiled vegetables . Beautiful place , well connected and very very safe … will certainly be back in the near future

Went here with my kids and a friend and his kids from December 9th to December 20th. What a trip! Eilyn and the whole kids' entertainment staff (miniDisco!) were amazing! Nessa left an impression on us all (rrrrrrrr miaow miaow) and all in all this was another excellent experience with Bahia Principe Grand for me (I've done several and highly recommend this chain) Great buffet, awesome pool and activities, very friendly employees. The beach is beautiful even though the water is not clear; my understanding is imported sand and a nearby river make it clean but murky. They offer free catamaran, kayak, snorkeling and other amenities (check your package for inclusions). I wish room cards were less buggy (I always seem to have issues with room cards...) but I get that there's no perfect solution here and staff was responsive and apologetic.

This was the second time we've stayed at the hotel. The first time was fabulous, the second ... well wasn't without faults. We booked (and paid a hefty Tui charge) for an ocean view room. Unless we had our own gardener to cut down the extensive greenery between us and the sea, as well as having a pair of strong binoculars ... well there'd be no chance of seeing the sea. The first room we had we found a plug socket dangerously hanging off the wall and the air con just didn't work. And so we spoke with reception ... and they couldn't have been nicer. They agreed the room choice was poor on their behalf .. they said the room will be now out of service until they've rectified the faults we raised. And the hotel then moved us to a fabulous room. Smack bang in front of the sea. The hotel took what could have been a real negative and turned around into a real positive. Another point to share, I had issue getting onto the hotel wifi. The reception staff and their IT manager tried for an hour and wouldn't give up till they'd cracked this and got me the access I needed. I would recommend this hotel .. without hesitation.
