2024 Family vacation at this location for Christmas Holiday
A family of five booked two rooms in Royal Level for five days in mid-December.
Upon check-in, two family members were assigned to a room on the third floor with an ocean view at one end, while the other three were assigned a room at the far end of the first floor entrance. This left my family split between the two ends of the third and first floors. The room on the first floor had a musty mildew smell; although the room was big, it had one king-size bed, which was insufficient for three people. We asked for a room change but were denied due to lack of availability. After requesting to speak with the manager, they were given a small adjacent room with two twin beds, attached to a suite. Despite paying a significant amount money for the Royal Level, the room assignments were very disappointing. The room had poor temperature control, and the beds were not clean. We had to ask for a change of bed sheets, and the room had a cockroach problem, with cockroaches seen crawling in the hallway as well. First-floor rooms were generally undesirable.
The restaurant in the Royal Level had very slow food service. Although the food was tasty, it took about two hours to finish a meal, so we only dined there twice and opted for the buffet instead. I did not find the food particularly delicious, but appreciated the proximity to Xcaret Park. The pool and beach areas were quiet and suitable for snorkeling. While it might be worth visiting once, I do not recommend Royal Level. If you want a high-quality experience, consider going somewhere better than this royal level.

Resort for sure is 4/5! Overall, a great place to stay, especially if you catch a deal. Service: 5/5 - special Ismael and happy birthday! Always friendly at building 20. Restaurant service was always quick and friendly. Bartenders were always accommodating and had a heavy pour.
Location: 4/5 - pretty far from Cancun (an hour) and relatively far from being able to go out and shop/be a tourist (about 15-20 minutes by cab). Able to walk to the Xcaret park, which was a plus! Get a basic pass so you can go back to the resort to eat or grab drinks and make sure you stay for the show - it’s excellent!
Rooms: 3/5 - some opportunities in cleanliness for sure in the restrooms, and we had a leak from what could have been the HVAC? Bedroom itself was clean and always stocked.
Shade: 10/10 - all the pools, lounge chairs (which were plentiful) and hammocks had ample shade ALL day.
Our only downside was a conference that was hosted that had set meal schedules, making it super challenging to get into the buffets for breakfast, lunch and late-night. We had a 45 minute wait at one point just for the buffet - this was very disappointing and recommend they use a tailored approach moving forward to space out their meal times, or open it early for them. This inconvenienced a lot of guests and families.

This resort has some pros and cons but for me it was overwhelmingly positive. The grounds were stunning set in the jungle. The rooms are adequate and the beds and sheets were comfy. The food in the buffet was okay but if you get an omelette or something they cook for you, you will be fine. The tacos and pizza at Pacos Tacos were delicious. Ruben Guzman was an excellent waiter. Kinda sad the coffee shop was an additional cost but for $3.50 a latte and cookie isn't bad. Overall, the value for the price is undeniable.

This resort has a lot of positives about it. The grounds are amazing, tucked into the jungle and the restaurants are pretty decent. The buffet is average but the tacos and pizza snack bars are great. The lagoon is beautiful as is the snorkeling area. Overall this resort is a 3.75/5
We did have issues with our room. The water was always boiling hot, and the water pressure was always very low. The beds are also small (double).
Everyone at the resort was exceptional besides a front desk person named Carolina. She "upgraded" us to a room that had only one bed, was in a poor section of the hotel, smelled like sewer etc. When we asked her about it, she decided to totally ignore us - as if she was trying to punish us for asking for a different room. We ended up getting our old room back - but what a hassle and unpleasant experience Carolina made for us.
Moses, a young man in the activity pool was great. He provided us entertainment and sport and was very welcoming and pleasant.
This resort is in a great location and offers decent prices and is worth checking out.

I want to start off by saying this resort is absolutely beautiful. The location is amazing and the wildlife is the highlight of the resort. I love that it was in the jungle and the views were breathtaking. Going to the Xcaret park is a must. I recommend getting the unlimited access so you can go as much as you want during your stay. It was phenomenal. The staff at the buffets were very attentive and friendly. Julio at the snack bar and Arturo at the main buffet were so sweet, funny, and gave great service. Noah and Israel the concierges were amazing and so fun to talk to. We also loved the singer in the lobby and the different shows they put on every night at the theater. The biggest downside was constantly being pressured to buy the timeshares/vacation packages. I’m on vacation and I don’t want to be approached 24/7 about buying something that I can’t even afford. There were one or two staff members who would no longer be friendly once we said no to what they were trying to sell which was disappointing. We also requested a few things for our room and unfortunately never got them. Other than that I would recommend this resort and would love to come back.
