Please kindly ignore the negative reviews. This is a great hotel in a wonderful resort staffed by an extremely professional team. The sea views are amazing, the promenade in front is long and fun, and there is a never-ending list of things to do in Funchal and Madeira. Have the 'time of your life' (hotel motto) and visit Pestana Grand.

Beautiful hotel with very friendly service. The indoor pool has an entry to the outside which makes it fun. Lots of small fountains in the restaurant area which is fun for small children. The hotel staff are all very accommodative to our little one.

This is a lovely hotel, the room is beautiful, tasteful, and comfortable. Unquestionably the most elegant and friendly hotel I've stayed in. Also, the staff are really kind, and helpful, full of useful advice in how to make the most of our stay, and happy to oblige in whatever way they can. We have eaten several meals, and not only is the presentation pleasing, but the food is delicious, a good range of dishes, too. I had a particularly good plate of perch in saffron sauce at dinner last night, and their homemade peanut butter is to die for. Thank for for a delightful week on this edenic island

Stayed at The Grand for New Year. It was busy but quiet at the same time. It was a nice break away from it all, in a quieter location, which we knew about in advance, having stayed here before. The hotel is lovely, as are the staff and the grounds. Fast lifts and no problem grabbing one. However, the rooms are looking a little dated now and need a refresh. We also had issues with wifi, which wasn't reliable at all. May not be everyone's cup of tea as it's a fair way away from Funchal Old Town, but as long as you do your research in advance, you'll have a grand stay.

Rooms are little outdated but clean and have everything you’ll need.
Breakfast has many options and I bet you can find what you like.
Outside pools are bit cold but it feels good after long day in the sun. Indoor spa is warmer which is nice.
