Honest Review of Our Stay at Secrets Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa – Preferred Club September 11–20, 2025 This was our first experience at a Secrets resort in Mexico. Secrets Riviera Cancun is located about 25 minutes from the Cancun airport. The resort itself has more of a boutique feel compared to some of the larger, grander properties we’ve stayed at in the past. Staying on the Secrets side gives you full access to the Breathless side of the resort. The food was the best we’ve experienced at any all-inclusive resort so far. If you’re staying on the secrets side, the Rosewater restaurant will likely become your favorite dining spot. Out of the à la carte restaurants, the Italian and steakhouse restaurants were our favorites. They had great entertainment with daily activities and nightly shows. The staff at this resort were awesome and definitely helped make our experience enjoyable and memorable. A few special shoutouts: Rosewater Restaurant: Yesenia, Jose, and Lino Activities Staff: Angel, Luis, and Erik Pool Service: Charlie Boy Bartenders: Eduardo (Preferred Club Lounge) and Fernando (Energy Pool) Note for beach lovers: If your main priority is a wide, walkable beach or swimming in the ocean, this resort may not be the perfect fit. The focus here is more on the pools, service, food, entertainment, and intimate vibe rather than a long sandy shoreline. Overall, Secrets Riviera Cancun delivered a wonderful blend of relaxation, excellent dining, great entertainment, and outstanding hospitality.

We came to this secrets for a wedding. We had stayed at the Secrets on playa Mujeres and it was the worst experience we have ever had. So when we saw our friends booked their wedding at a Secrets we were apprehensive about attending. We'll i can say that we were pleasantly surprised. What a great stay. The room, swim up was amazing, the food at Rosewood fantastic. This was over all a really great trip. I would book this resort again. A special shout out to Danial and William and Papi. And especially to Eduardo at the desk he was so kind and helpful when our flight got super delayed. We cant thank him enough.

This was our third stay at Secrets Riviera Maya and it never disappoints! The staff is truly what makes this place special—everyone is so kind, welcoming, and goes above and beyond. The food is always delicious with so many great options, and the entire resort is incredibly clean and well-maintained. We’ve been to several resorts, but this one always stands out. Already looking forward to our next trip! Some of the staff that were highlights of our trip included: Cruz – Pool Bartender Cruz was incredible every single day—always upbeat, friendly, and on top of everything. His great attitude and top-notch service made hanging out by the pool that much better. Luis – Manager at Asian Restaurant Luis went above and beyond like no one we’ve ever seen. We were celebrating a special occasion, and he made sure every detail of our dinner was perfect. Truly made the night unforgettable. Luis & Lopez – Preferred Bar Bartenders Luis and Lopez were awesome. We’ve been to several Secrets resorts, and they stood out with how carefully they made each drink. Lopez even gave us a tequila-tasting lesson—it was a blast!

Can not wait to be back! My husband & I went on a couples trip this past June with some friends of ours and had the absolute best time! Special shout out to spicy Luis at the secrets pool - he made sure everyone had the best time! It just wasn't the same on his day off, but we love him so much he deserves all the time off he wants!! We can't wait to plan our next trip to get to hang out with our bestie at the pool!!! We loved Sweet Luis at the preferred club bar as well! He was such an amazing bartender! Not only did he make the best drinks but he also had the best conversation! Both sweet & spicy Luis made our trip! We can't wait to come back and hang with them again! We loved playing bingo, volleyball, trivia and all the fun games at the pool with spicy Luis! An extra treat was making friendship bracelets with him after the entertainment. He truly made our week so much fun! We have stayed at many all inclusive resorts and he was hands down the best "entertainment officer" we've ever had! At other resorts we would get bored or tired of doing the same things daily. We had so much fun with spicy Luis we didn't even want to leave for an excursion! We would also like to recognize Manny, he was so sweet and did such a great job hosting activities such as karaoke! We couldn't leave a review without mentioning the best pizza chef, Fernando!!! We had the best time hanging out with him and enjoying his delicious pizzas all week long! We loved eating at the hibachi restaurant. The food was great at the regular table and the hibachi table. We ended up eating there many times. We preferred to stay on the secrets side as the breathless side was a little crazy, but we did enjoy walking over to see some of the entertainment at the breathless pool during the parties. It was fun to be able to hop back and forth! Overall, we had a great time and made many new friends. We can't wait to come back!! We would highly recommend this resort to anyone who

The hotel looks fancy when you arrive, and check-in comes with drinks, which is a nice touch. Staff are generally friendly (special shout-out to Pascual—amazing service). Rooms are kept clean, housekeeping comes twice a day, and they do have top-shelf liquor included. Coffee shop is also a nice perk. Now the downsides… this is a timeshare property, so get ready for the pushy sales pitches. Food is hit or miss: the Mexican food in Spoon (buffet) was honestly the best choice, the Italian restaurant was great, the French I didn’t try because the menu looked weak, and the steakhouse portions are tiny (order doubles). Hibachi is hard to book and requires a strict dress code. Room service is reliable but the menu is limited. Entertainment is almost non-existent after 10–11pm—just karaoke or a short show. No clubs, no real nightlife. Excursions through the hotel are insanely overpriced—they quoted me $1,400 for two parks. I booked the same through my travel service for $790 platinum package (all food, beer, and gear included). Huge difference. The beach? Don’t bother—dirty, full of seaweed, and smells bad. Shops on-site are expensive, and the “free shopping tour” they push is 4 hours long. Better to Uber to Puerto Morelos for about $60 round trip. Overall, the resort looks good on the outside, the liquor is quality, and service from some staff stands out. But with average food, overpriced excursions, and no nightlife, I’d give it 3 stars. Cancun has plenty of better resorts that offer stronger food, nightlife, and beach experiences.
