Our stay at Solana Beach was okay overall, but for the price and value, I would recommend considering another resort. We booked the all-inclusive package, and unfortunately, it was not the greatest experience. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful, but others seemed disinterested — and it quickly became clear that if you’re not French-speaking or from Europe, you’ll likely feel overlooked. Most of the activities, announcements, and even entertainment were geared entirely toward French-speaking guests, which made it difficult to enjoy the resort atmosphere fully. The daytime entertainment was honestly poor. The leisure team seemed unmotivated, and there wasn’t much effort to include or engage all guests — only a select few. It also felt like you had to spend extra money to receive good service. For example, during a birthday dinner when we chose one of the more expensive dining options, the staff were suddenly very attentive and friendly. For an all-inclusive resort, there was a noticeable lack of service around the pool and beach — no waiters coming around to offer drinks or assistance. The rooms were the highlight of our stay, mainly because of the beautiful sea-facing view. However, housekeeping was minimal — only the beds were made daily, and empty bottles or small messes weren’t cleaned for days. The bathroom appeared to have been recently modernized, but the workmanship was poor, and it took about 10 minutes for the water to get hot in our room. Overall, Solana Beach has potential, but the experience did not match the cost or expectations of an all-inclusive resort. If you’re looking for a more welcoming, value-for-money, and inclusive experience — especially as a non-European guest — I would suggest exploring other options in Mauritius.

Lovely hotel. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. All of them face the sea, which is beautiful at any time of day. It’s very clean — not only the rooms, but also the yard. The staff clean and rake the grounds every day. All the staff are very kind and helpful. The food is good. The only complaint is about the birds that fly into one of the restaurants, even during meals.

Really nice adults only hotels, with very clean rooms ans restaurant. We never really used the pool as the beach sunliyngers were just great and very quiet. The only slight downside is that the hotel is quite far from anything so youd always need a cab but saying that, its great for a relaxing week!

This was an exceptionally underwhelming stay. The view from the room is great and the hotel is situated on one of the prettiest beaches. That’s where the good ends. To the extent I was browsing alternative hotels to move to. My biggest issue was the attitude of staff. As a frequent traveller this was a first. Bar/restaurant staff particularly unhelpful. Made to feel as tho I was a massive inconvenience by even going to offer a drink. The general atmosphere gave of the vibe as thought it was my privilege to be staying there. Often ignored, difficult to place an order. I will give credit to the housekeeping staff who are very friendly and hardworking. However I found 4/5 housekeeping visits a day incredibly intrusive and unnecessary. I was walked in on whilst unclothed and despite me obviously saying not to come in and trying to cover myself the staff member proceeded to come in and deliver fresh towels. This hotel will do the job if you need somewhere to stay for 1/2 nights. But do not make this the destination for your holiday, despite the tempting prices

The food at the buffet restaurant was average with very little variety. The same dishes were repeatedly served — for example, pasta with tomato sauce and black olives appeared at both lunch and dinner on consecutive days. The bread selection was good, but if you wish to enjoy seafood, you’ll need to pay an additional 2000, otherwise you’re limited to the same recurring options such as beef ragout, chicken or fish curry, and tomato pasta, we had to dine out at multiple occasions. The sunbeds were uncomfortable, clearly worn out to the point that you can feel the metal parts underneath, and it seems no action has been taken to replace or repair them. Similarly, the wooden pool deck is damaged, unstable when stepped on, and unsafe due to exposed nails. The alcohol quality was low, which was disappointing for the price paid. On a positive note, the rooms were clean and the housekeeping staff were excellent — if you miss the morning cleaning, they return later, and the room is always well maintained. As someone who works in the hospitality industry, I found the service level to be very poor. When I asked for an Espresso Martini, despite all ingredients (vodka, coffee liqueur, and espresso) being part of our package, the first bartender declined, and the second asked for an additional 450 MR, which is unacceptable given the package value. I also requested a cucumber garnish, which was available just steps away at the buffet, yet the bartender refused. I ended up bringing it myself, and the bartender simply didn’t care. The hotel promotes a BBQ night as a special event, but even for guests on an all-inclusive package, it comes at an extra charge. If you don’t pay, you’re again limited to the same buffet options. This creates the impression that all-inclusive guests are treated as if they are staying for free, which reflects a lack of hospitality and training. Staff seem unaware that guests, even under all-inclusive plans, are paying a significant amount and deserve proper service. À la carte restaurant: The food itself was good, but the service was robotic and unfriendly. It took around 20 minutes just for our order to be taken, and our initial drinks never arrived—we had to walk to the bar to get them ourselves. No apology was offered. Strangely, the drinks still appeared on the bill, and when I mentioned it, the waiter just said, “It’s okay, you don’t pay since it’s all-inclusive,” again showing a careless attitude toward guest experience. During a birthday celebration for one of the couples, staff simply placed the cake, lit the candle, and walked away without a smile or a word. Fellow guests had to step in to sing, which says a lot about the atmosphere. Activities: There were no daytime activities at all — best to bring your own entertainment or a good book. Checkout: At checkout, the staff claimed an error on our bill and tried to charge us extra, but we noticed it in time and disputed it. They eventually admitted it was a mistake, but such issues shouldn’t happen at checkout. We also requested for an iron which is normally provided in a 4 stars hotel however hotel claimed that they do not provide such a service however ironing is provided at a fee. Overall, having stayed in several hotels across the island at similar price points, I find this one overpriced for the quality and service delivered. The property seems more focused on generating extra revenue from all-inclusive guests than on genuine hospitality.
