Our favorite all-inclusive in Cancun so far, having been there 6 times. Great value, good food, good service.
Check-in:
After check-in you will be escorted across the lobby to a customer service person to give you an "orientation" to the hotel. You'll get a map and description of options, but the real point of the interaction is to try and sell you on their vacation "membership" options (a.k.a. timeshare). We were firm in expressing we did not want to spend time talking about this, and that was it. (Note that ~85% of people who buy a timeshare later regret it, according to John Oliver's analysis about this on YouTube. It is worth some online research before making such a decision.)
Pool & Lounge Chairs:
To reserve a pool lounge you should place a personal item (hat, book, etc) on your desired lounge chair before 8am (as of mid-December '24), along with one of the pool towels. That "reserves" it for you for an hour. Periodically the hotel places a warning card on unattended lounge chairs, with a time on it. If you don't remove it after an hour, your stuff will be collected to let someone else use it.
In the mornings, the "Diamond" and "Platinum" members get lounge chairs reserved for them, with their names printed on a strip and fastened around a towel. If they don't claim their spot by 10am, the lounge chairs are then released (ask one of the pool attendants). We didn't see a meaningful benefit to the diamond and platinum memberships. There is a VIP lounge, but there was no buzz about that being great. The "memberships" also give you resort points, however there are significant limits on what those points can be used for. Look this up on reddit if interested.
There were almost always open lounge chairs on the far north end of the quiet pool, along the edge of the patio. The pools start to get some shade after 3pm.
The pools are heated, which is great! There is no hot tub unless you pay to go into the spa.
Beach:
There are rocks in the water making it unsafe to wade out and swim, on all but a small section of the beach on the far south end of the property, where the life guards usually put out a yellow flag, in contrast to the red flags everywhere else. The beach is in the sun the longest, of all the seating options throughout the day.

My fiancée and I had a great time at sun palace! We had a couple of small problems that were resolved very quickly! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. It makes it very easy for first time travelers or first time travelers to Mexico (like ourselves) to figure things out. Unfortunately we weren’t able to play around in the ocean like we both would’ve liked, BUT, the red flags were up so it was a safety issue. Not mad about it. The pools were amazing and clean. Food was great. Eduardo at Aurora for breakfast and lunch was great! Highly recommend sun palace and palace resorts. You won’t be disappointed.

Great experience. We decided to move to this hotel when we went to visit it. We saw the difference from Beach Palace as soon as we stepped into it. The hotel is beautiful, clean and the staff is great. The service is top notch. The hotel is in the hotel zone therefore easy to get around. The beach is rocky but the water is beautiful and has that turquoise water. Entertainment is good at night too with different performances every night. We recommend this place.

They are small and have a great service which are things I value in an all inclusive. My biggest complaint is that all of the lounge chairs and I mean all of them are reserved for their timeshare people. So you have no place to lay out by the “relaxing” pool.
Also like most all inclusives they try to get you to become a part of their timeshare. That is totally expected. What wasn’t expected was that they called out room 3+ times a day inviting us down to talk about it. We have asked them to stop but the calls keep coming. We have been woken up from naps and in the morning several times.

We had a great time at Sun Palace Cancun with exceptional service from the entire staff especially from Esmeralda and Noemi!
The food was excellent in general and we loved the Thai restaurant offering vegetarian and tofu choices!
The white sand beach would be awesome if the big rocks could be removed.
