The good: spacious room, location- easy access to the bus stops.
That's it.
Now I'm gonna write up how bad it was right from the entrance.
1. Building is & looks old, patched up and everyone looks tired. Staff doesn't want to help you and ARE RUDE. Having a breakfast is an embarrassment. Who would end up in Barbados and not wake up fresh and begin the day with excitement? it all dies once you go for breakfast. They stare at you as if you're a burden and are in some prison. So many restrictions to eat which aren't displayed anywhere. Trust me guys you don't wanna face the two individuals serving you breakfast with annoying gestures. It's not just us.. we made a couple of friends around and they all had the same thought- not something I'm making up. Nothing great about the breakfast either.. I hate toasts now for good. No fresh fruits, watered up juices, strictly avoid breakfast here if you can.
2. Coming to the rooms.. although they're spacious and air-conditioned some parts of the room were old. I won't complain much because after the long nights it's comfortable and serves the purpose. Bed is alright.
3. Poolside- avoid! You will find the sunbeds ,yes, but without cushions and bent/moldy.
They have no sunbeds for the beach.. I learnt this after staying there as I couldn't find the info anywhere..so here it is if it helps.
There's a tiny path through the weeds and shrubs bang opposite the entrance gate through which you'll have access to the beach which is usually quiet and not so crowded. That's one plus! You will also get to see the hotels you regret not booking, lol.
Finally, I would like to request the management to train their staff to be more polite and smile more. Also be more proactive in suggesting us better tour packages etc.
I won't go back here anyway.

My experience at Sunbay was satisfactory. The welcome was great, very courteous staff. Support with communication by whatsapp that I found very innovative A very large restaurant, a very nice swimming pool and the beach right in front. I really liked the decor of the room, an old style but very classy. However, I didn't like the decor of the corridors leading to the rooms. The hotel offers breakfast, which is not something I find in hotels in Barbados. I highly recommend this hotel if you are going to Barbados for a family or romantic getaway.

Positives
- Great location; close to Oistins and Saint Lawrence Gap
Negatives
- Arrived at 5.30 and despite it being advertised that check in available from 3pm, we had to wait to hours for a room. After an hour we queried the wait, we were told its because they had other large parties checking in. Didn't get in our room until gone 7pm. No apology, just attitude.
- Staff are incompetent and lazy. We stayed for 3 days and house keeping didn't change the bedding, remove dirty/replace glasses in room, have to beg for fresh towels, don't clean the bathroom. Staff also have constant attitude and sour faces when asked anything. Hostile environment. Roll eyes and kiss their teeth.
- The hotel is tired, dirty and run down. The restaurant area isn't even fit to be called a restaurant. The breakfast is basic at best and staff don't efficiently clear away or clean tables. Toaster at breakfast broke and the waitress just walked off. Not interested in helping. The 'bar' is more of a shack, that has leaking fridges and towels on the floor. Not clean or hygienic. Whether you're going to get a adequate quality drink is hit & miss depending on who is serving. I don't think they are bartenders, more like kids. - --Another hotel guest at breakfast told us had asked her holiday provider to move her to a different hotel as she had seen mice.
- The poolside isn't fit to be called a poolside. The area looks tired and jaded. Sun loungers are broken/mouldy, grass not mown, so you get bit sitting out there. Better off going to the beach.
- We were told by the hotel director to leave the hotel on day 3 out of 7 for leaving an honest review of the hotel. Supervisor and staff are bullies and shouldn't work in a customer facing role. Hotel thought they were spiting us, but it worked in our favour as we went to a beautiful 5* hotel.
- This establishment is hostel and not a hotel as the amenities are basic and the type of clientele in there.
- Wifi only works in the lobby
If you're looking for a good quality hotel, do not stay at this dump. It needs closing down and the staff going along with it as their sole intention is to provide a miserable, dreary time.

The whole hotel is tired and in need of a major refurbishment. Our supposedly superior room had shower taps that came away from the wall. Despite repeatedly asking we had no tea making facilities and our safe never worked. The balcony sliding door had to be properly man handled to open or close it. We had rain pouring through our bathroom ceiling after heavy rain. The staff made notes of our complaints but nobody actually did anything. On our last day the pool was closed.

Hotel is lovely but in need of a bit of loving, breakfast was included but never saw bacon in the 10 days of our stay, sausages were on the menu but wasn't the nicest. But hey what do u expect from a 3 star hotel , found a few of the staff looked like they was constantly unhappy about being there and felt like you was being a hindrance when asking them, the menu from throughout the day was the same everyday! Maybe change the menu ! I feel that why don't they have someone going around poolside asking people would they like a drink they would make so much money both on beers , juice and even get more tips ! The rooms are ok i suppose just had to spray everything as we had little crawlies over the drawers etc daily. Was quite a distance from the nearest bars but the reggae reggae buses are the way forward. Would we stay here again?? Probably not but ok if you want a cheap holiday!
Barbados is such a lovely place , the people are so lovely , I feel was marking them a 3 but a little t l c with the hotel and staff would go a long way ! It's not a negative but constructive !
