The first evening we arrived we went to El Mirador for dinner where we were served uncooked prawns. Unfortunately I didn’t notice this until I took the head off the second one meaning I’ve had food poising all weekend and not been able to eat or drink anything. This meant I had to cancel our reservation for the next night at the 2 Michelin star restaurant but when I told the reception desk what had happened they told me I would still have to pay a fee. I contested this and they said they would speak to the manager and call me back, they never did so I had to go back again (very sick at this point) and repeat my request. Eventually this was resolved. However, when I asked to see a medic or doctor they told me I would have to pay a fee and the toast and tea they said would be sent to my room, never arrived.
On the second day we visited the pool and ordered some drinks, after an hour another waiter came to us to ask if we wanted any drinks and we told him we were still waiting on the ones we ordered an hour ago.
I’ve also witnessed staff smoking around the pool even though it’s a non-smoking hotel, saw a chef come to a life guard to patch up a cut on his hand.
Our room was cleaned but we were left with no glasses or cups for tea or coffee. When I called to have our room service tray picked up after we were done with it, no one arrived.
And the final cherry on the cake… when I went to reception to speak to a manager about all of this, they were “in a meeting and would call me back.” There was no call and it took me contacting Marriott head office to finally get to speak to a manager who did his best to make it up to us however not before telling me staff had been having the same stomach issues.
This was supposed to be a once in a lifetime trip to one of the best hotels in the world which my friend and I saved hard for so we could enjoy. I am thoroughly disappointed and can safely say I will not be visiting this hotel again or recommending it to anyone.

The hotel is beautiful and so are the rooms. My issue is the way I was treated (as a Black woman). Check in was a disaster with limited information. The person next to me (White man) received great customer service with detailed information. They even said they would bring toys to the room for his children. Meanwhile they didn’t tell me about dinner, dinner reservations, breakfast, nothing! My stay included all of this and they provided no information. I didn’t even receive a tour of the property.
The location makes it hard to get around as well. There’s so much more to say, all around, worst stay ever! No apologies when I brought it to their attention yesterday that they failed. They said they did all they needed to do. Clearly they didn’t want me here.

As a designer, the design of the Ritz is very cool. The service was a mix of fantastic and lacking quite substantially, which was odd. The spa is one of, if not the best, spa experience I've ever had, so would highly recommend going to the spa if you're staying here. If you have kids, it seems like a great hotel for the family. We don't have kids yet, so as a couple traveling, we enjoyed our stay but wouldn't say it was the best. The room, though, was awesome! There's only one major downside: you get one water bottle per day, and have to pay for extra water if you want it at any point in your stay. The prices are unnecessarily astronomical for basically anything here including a bottle of water. At the other hotels we stayed in on this island and in Lanzarote, water was provided, so it was shocking and kind of annoying to stay at such a top tier hotel, a drive away from any convince store, and have to spend extra money every day just to keep hydrated. So if you plan to stay, bring lots of water lol.

Incredible, there is no other place to go in Tenerife other than Ritz-Carlton. Pictures don’t do this place justice, it’s truly one of the most beautiful properties we’ve stayed at. Amazing attention to detail - made our stay a celebration for my husband’s birthday. Staff is incredible, sadly quite a bit understaffed at the pool and security (we forgot our passports and it took security 35 minutes to retrieve it when the walk to the room is 2 minutes so we missed our flight) but even with that I can’t fault the hotel overall. Everyone was kind and attentive. Thank you

An unusual Hotel in The Ritz Carlton Group. Set like a Moorish village with 6 restaurants all featuring different cuisines. The breakfast buffet is extensive and very well stocked, replenished and the service there is excellent. The Suite we had was exceptionally spacious. Strange to say, but too spacious or maybe a lack of furniture to fill the lounge area to the room. The sofas were extremely low to the ground, and a less fit person would have difficulty with getting up from them. The facilities ,coffee machine and mini bar in the room was well stocked. The overall complex, with included many rooms, large swimming pool area and a variety of shops made the complex fully inclusive and no need to venture out if not desired. The Hotel had a Venicular which went down to a sandy cove beach. A small toy train also took the road route there and run every 30 minutes. The beach is sandy and a large sectioned off for Hotel guests which have the complimentary use of beach chairs and towels. The public have the use of a part of the beach but they are obliged to walk down the many rocky steps to access the beach and as a result is appears to only be popular with locals from the island who know the drill.
The Service in the Hotel and restaurants is good. Rooms kept clean and overall a good example of Ritz Carlton standard. The Hotel is placed on a rocky and high cliff and as such, with the different levels of the complex, moving from one area, say restaurant, to bedroom, to swimming pool, shops involves many steps so is not very well suited to disabled or people who have difficulty with stairs. However, overall, for a short stay the Ritz Carlton Abama is worth trying.
