Location on the beach was great, the waterpark was excellent for our young children. However there were quite a few sour points which made the stay unpleasant. We had cockroaches in our room over the last few days. We finally had an offer on the third complaint for a new room for our last night which wasn't realistic to pack up, move room, unpack and then pack the next morning for checkout. Our kids both ended up with cuts grazes from all the sharp edges on the tiled pools, our son ended up with a particularly large cut on his foot from the tile edges in our rooms plunge pool as well as a cut on his toe from one of the beds. Considering it's a family wing with the pool entry it wasn't very good for children with all the pointed sharp edges. We were constantly monitoring every move our youngest was making in the pool to ensure he remained safe. The buffet breakfast food was amazing and probably one of the best we've had. However, getting non diary coffee was painful and the quality of every coffee we had was poor. Amazing coffee machines for dairy users but if you need barista Almond/Oat etc you're not going to enjoy the coffee. Hotel room service was expensive compared to the restaurants outside the hotel. Food wasn't great either, the kids meals were good, but food was pretty bland and pricey. Everywhere we ate outside the hotel served better tasting food at a more reasonable price, so we only made the room service mistake once.

The facility is not bad. and the mood is good. The water park side is exciting and the beach side is peaceful . But the clean and food is so bad. There are so many floating matters in the pool. The breakfast is not bad and so crowded but it’s ok due to it is family resort. However the dinner on Saturday it’s the worst. Every BBQ is really cool but the fire show is so good. The staff organizing activity at the front is so kind and so helpful for my child having stomachaches. And the nurse is so kind and offers appropriately measure and suggestions.

The Sands Khao Lak is a lovely 3.5-star hotel — but definitely not a 5-star resort, as it markets itself. I’ve reviewed it accordingly. The good: The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the facilities for kids are genuinely nice. There’s a fun pool area with slides and a lovely kids club (though without real activities or active supervision). For families with young children, that’s a real plus. The not-so-good: The hotel overall lacks any sense of luxury. Cleanliness was disappointing — we had ants in our room — and the gym was in poor condition. The food was the biggest letdown: poor taste, limited variety, and unimpressive presentation. Honestly, you can skip breakfast and not miss much. Fortunately, there are a few decent restaurants nearby. We also experienced a health incident due to the negligence of the pool staff. It took escalating the issue to the hotel manager before it was taken seriously — but to their credit, once it reached management, they did handle it properly. Bottom line: If you’re looking for a budget-friendly, kid-oriented vacation with spacious rooms, this can be a good option. But if you’re hoping for any sense of luxury, good food, or relaxation — take a short walk to the JW Marriott nearby instead.

This is our second time staying at the Sands and it has never been anything but impressive. The cleanliness of the pools, grounds, staff friendliness is nothing but the best. The location of the resort enables you to walk to the town centre which saves time and money. I would like to add the first time we did stay at the Sands the breakfast buffet had alot more variety of food options available compared to this recent stay. This was the only negative experience we had.

Our recent stay at your resort was nothing short of extraordinary. From the initial reservation to our final farewell, every moment was infused with warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care. We were deeply moved by the kindness of your staff, whose graciousness turned a family holiday into a cherished memory. What particularly stood out was the remarkable sensitivity and support shown when we had to reschedule our booking due to a medical emergency with our infant. Such flexibility and understanding are rare, and we remain truly grateful. Throughout our stay, we experienced hospitality at its finest. Every detail, whether it was the impeccable cleanliness of the property, the thoughtfully prepared meals, or the seamless service, reflected a level of excellence that is both commendable and inspiring. Your team consistently went above and beyond, ensuring our comfort and well-being at every turn. We have since shared our experience widely among friends and family here in India, enthusiastically recommending your resort, especially to those traveling with young children. It is rare to find a place that so perfectly balances luxury, family-friendliness, and heartfelt hospitality. This was undoubtedly one of our most memorable annual holidays, and we owe that entirely to the outstanding team at your resort. A special note of appreciation to your reservations team, whose professionalism and courtesy were exemplary. We look forward to making your resort a beloved tradition in our family’s travel story. Thank you for setting such a high standard—and for embodying what true hospitality looks like.
