Ducana is grated sweet potato with coconut, sugar and spices which is steamed in a banana leaf and a Johnny cake is a type of doughnut often served for breakfast with salted codfish.

Antigua's close proximity to the equator means temperatures on the island remain consistently warm all-year-round, with an average of around 31°C. The island has distinct wet and dry seasons and a great time to visit is from December to August when you are less likely to experience any tropical downpours. December to April is the island's high season - the driest and coolest time of year - when the average daily maximum temperature is approximately 28°C.
The wet season is from mid-June to mid-November when Antigua experiences evening thunderstorms and short bursts of heavy rainfall. That time of year is very sunny but it can still feel quite humid. Variation in temperatures throughout the year is fairly limited on the island, making it a great destination for water sports, swimming and exploring the main attractions.
