Labadee (Haiti)

A thrilling cruise adventure awaits at Labadee, a privately-owned coastal peninsula port resort on Haiti’s northern coast. The resort, which is leased to Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, is an extensive haven of fun and entertainment for couples, families and groups of friends. When your ship berths at the 400-metre-long pier in Buccaneer Bay you won’t be able to access the rest of Haiti, but you can still get a flavour of Haitian life in the resort, with views of the country’s enchanting rainforests, traditional cuisine, stunning coastline and locals selling their produce to cruise visitors. Attractions on Labadee include pristine sandy beaches, an aqua park, water sports galore and Dragon's Breath Flight Line, an amazing zipline where you can travel at speeds of up to 50mph.

Immerse yourself in a sensational cruise holiday experience at Labadee, a magical 260-acre private port resort leased to Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd on a coastal peninsula in northern Haiti. The resort boasts four pristine white sandy beaches, rolling sand dunes, a superb aqua park and glistening Caribbean waters for snorkelling, swimming and lively pursuits on the waves.
 Other fabulous attractions include speed boat adventures, kayaking, sailing, catamaran trips, sailing and Dragon’s Breath Flight Line, an amazing over-water zipline which stretches almost half a mile across the shoreline. This daredevil ride starts 450 feet up a hillside and zips you across the resort at incredible speeds of up to 50mph. A key attraction in the Arawak Aqua Park is the Dragon’s Tail roller coaster where you’ll enjoy white knuckle thrills along the resort coastline. The park also features water trampolines, cooling icebergs, water slides and a special area for young holidaymakers called Adventure Ocean Oasis.
  Labadee also boasts a Haitian Village Cultural Experience where you can learn about Haiti’s history and traditions, plus a covered Artisan Market is the place to buy beachwear and Haitian crafts from local traders. When it comes to wining and dining off your ship, you’ll enjoy complimentary lunch at various locations on land including Café Labadee at Adrenalin Beach and Columbus Cove Café, while signature cocktails and other beverages are available at a choice of five bars. If you want to chill out and relax in the resort, there’s the option to rent out a sumptuous cabana or private beach bungalow for the day.   
      

Food & Drink

All the food and drink is prepared on your cruise ship, before being transported ashore to the various dining venues in Labadee resort. Complimentary lunch is served at Columbus Cove Café, the Dragon’s Café near the pier and Café Labadee at Adrenalin Beach.

A range of tasty delights are presented buffet-style to tantalise your taste buds, including hot dogs, burgers, chicken, barbecued meats, salads and tropical fruit. The resort also has several bars - the Floating Bar and Schooner Bar on Adrenalin Beach, Dragon’s Breath Pub near the pier, Columbus Cove Bar and Nellie’s Tavern. They all serve beers, sodas, signature cocktails and virgin mocktails, which are normally charged to your account by scanning your stateroom pass.

 f you have a drinks package as part of your cruise, this will be honoured in all the bars and restaurants. Haiti rum and snacks can also be bought from local traders at the open-air market.

Best Time

Haiti enjoys a tropical climate, with high temperatures and humidity all-year-round. The dry and sunny conditions between November and March make it a great time for a cruise experience in Labadee.
Heavy rains fall in April and June, with the hurricane season from August to October. Water temperatures in Labadee are good throughout the year – hovering between 26 and 29° C, which means conditions are ideal for swimming, diving, snorkelling and water sports.      

Things To See and Do

There’s never a dull moment in Labadee, with a myriad of exciting things to see and do which will ensure your visit to this wonderful private cruise resort is a feast of fun. From fun and games on the sands to a myriad of water sports on the waves, there’s something to deliver the adventure of a lifetime to couples, families and groups of friends. The Arawak Water Park at Columbus Cove delivers a splashing time, with a myriad of water slides, water trampolines and a mini park for young holidaymakers. Other fabulous attractions include the Dragon’s Breath zipline where you’ll soar across the sky at lightning speeds and the fantastic Dragon’s Tail roller coaster ride.
 The Haitian Village Cultural Experience will tell you all about life in Haiti and there’s also a market selling beachwear, souvenirs, wood carvings and other crafts where you can barter with locals for a bargain. If you want to slow down the pace and relax in the resort you can lie back and soak up the sun in a complimentary beach chair or hammock, with the option to really indulge yourself by hiring a plush cabana. If you feel like a pleasant stroll, the resort boasts a series of colour-coded paved trails – a leisure walk, moderate walk and strenuous walk. Labadee has four wonderful sandy beaches, namely Adrenalin Beach, Columbus Cove, Nellie’s Beach and Barefoot Beach. Parasailing, paddleboarding, kayaking, Catamaran trips, speed boat rides, fishing excursions and snorkelling, are among the things to do on the inviting Caribbean waters.
