Holidays are an opportunity to relax and indulge in some little luxuries that you don’t normally get back at home. Here we look at five little luxuries that you can only get on your jollies.
One of the best things about being on holiday is that you get the opportunity to try some new foods that you might not even be able to get at home. When you’re at home, it’s too easy to get stuck in a food rut, eating very similar things again and again. However, on holiday most people tend to be more open and in a better mood, thus making them more willing to broaden their horizons and try something they’ve never munched on before.
Why is it beneficial to try new foods while you’re on holiday? Well, aside from the fresh ingredients available, cooked in an authentic setting, discovering new and exciting recipes - especially if you’re trying something healthy - you’re also setting a great example for the kids. We all know that little angels can be fussy eaters, but if your children see you trying (and loving) something new and exotic, they’ll be more likely to try it too.
We all lead busy lives when we’re at home, and while this is necessary, it also means that many of us don’t get enough sleep. Holidays are a wonderful opportunity to catch up on some much needed zzz’s, we’re thinking lie-ins and naps by the pool - bliss!
Getting lots of sleep on holiday is essential for coming back feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to jump back into real life (maybe).
When was the last time you went to a spa and indulged in some me time? It’s so easy to let life get in the way of treating yourself, but a holiday is the perfect opportunity to book some luxury beauty treatments.
Why not throw caution to the wind and try a treatment that you’ve never had before? Instead of a bog-standard massage, why not get a mud wrap? To take the place of your normal facial, try a seaweed scrub instead!
We’ve all been guilty of, shall we say, overindulging at the all inclusive buffet. But that’s the beauty of being on holiday - it’s the perfect excuse to eat and drink what you damn well please!
So put the diet to one side and pile that plate up high - it is called ‘on your jollies’ after all.
Yes I will sign up for water aerobics while I’m here, because prancing around in the pool to Calvin Harris sounds too fun to miss! Sound familiar? Holidays are a great opportunity to try a new sport, and make some new friends in the process!
Check with your holiday rep what sports are available in your resort, and see if you can persuade the whole family to join you on your new adventure. You might just find your passion!
