Com Hen, which translates as clam rice, features rice or rice noodles, pork cracklings, stir-fried clams peanuts, bean sprouts, sliced apples, fried shallots and herbs.
Banh Beo are steamed rice cakes which are topped with dried shrimp, pork cracklings, shallots and herbs, and then served with nuoc mam pha, a delicious dipping sauce.
A popular choice with children is Banh Trang Trung which is similar to a pizza and made from a circle of rice paper, topped with various ingredients which may include egg, spring onions, ground meat and cheese. It is then grilled over charcoal.
A delightful beverage in Hue is Ca Phe Muoi, a salty coffee which includes condensed milk which creates an appealing caramel-like flavour.
