Kruger National Park Highlights

Covering almost two million hectares, the Kruger National Park is one of the world’s most-renowned game reserves.

A once-in-a-lifetime wildlife safari awaits, with the chance for close encounters some of the world’s most magnificent animals, including lions, leopards, hippos, rhinos, crocodiles, giraffes, elephants, hyenas, wildebeest and buffalos.

The largest national park in South Africa is also home to many species of birds including African hawk eagles, black storks, cormorants, eagle owls, ostriches, spoonbills and vultures.

A two-day stay will give you a taste of what the park has to offer, but it's advisable to stay for at least five days if you want to truly immerse yourself in the wonder of this spectacular natural attraction and appreciate its incredible diversity.

You’ll be awestruck by the breathtaking natural wilderness all around you and spend restful nights in superb accommodation, with many options available including a bush house, a tented chalet or a safari lodge. There’s even the opportunity to stay in a hotel which is a converted old train.

The park has a hot, sub-tropical climate and temperatures are above 25° C for most of the year. The dry winter months are ideal for game viewing, however the wet summer season is a great time to observe the animals at busy waterholes, see newborn wildlife and witness the arrival of summer migrant birds.

Kruger National Park is very family-friendly, although the south of the park is better suited to children as the distances between the get-out points in vehicles are not so great.

There are several ways to explore the park including trekking on foot, setting off in an open safari vehicle with a professional guide or ranger, or hiring a self-drive 4x4 which lets you plan your own itinerary and travel around at your own pace.

There are many areas waiting to be discovered in Kruger National Park including the Central Grasslands, Olifants and Letaba, Skukuza Area, Far North, South Eastern and South West.
