This is the third year I have taken a group of 15-20 teenagers on a school trip to NYC for a week, and we have always stayed here. The hotel itself is gorgeous - spacious rooms (for NYC!! this is a biggie!) with amazing accommodations. The staff is beyond courteous and helpful, and we have never wanted for anything. The location is perfect for a week in NYC - close to just about everything you want to do - and it has a metro stop literally next door! We couldn't ask for more. I would return here with or without a group of students - it is such a good hotel!

Terrible Customer Service – Won’t Accommodate Early Check-In!
I had a horrible experience with this hotel! After a long trip, I arrived a couple of hours before check-in and politely asked if I could check in early. Instead of being helpful, the front desk staff rudely told me I had to wait until the official check-in time—no exceptions! The lobby wasn’t even busy, and I could see that rooms were ready, but they still refused.
For a place that claims to care about guests, they sure don’t act like it. Other hotels I’ve stayed at have always been accommodating when possible, but not this one. Instead, I was forced to sit around and waste time. Terrible customer service, unfriendly staff, and zero flexibility. I will never stay here again, and I don’t recommend it to anyone who expects even basic hospitality!
They also said if I want to check in early I need to pay $80 to check in 2 hours earlier
Si they do have a rooom they just don’t care about their guests
It sounds ridiculous to me to pay for 2 hours half of a nightly rate
Also beds are super tiny

This was the perfect room/location/price for family trip to NYC. The hotel location was conveniently located above a subway station with an entrance a few steps away from the door. The room was very clean and the daily service we received from housekeeping was very thorough. The staff was very friendly and hotel was very safe as there were staff members checking for hotel keys before anyone could enter the hotel room access area. Would definitely recommend and will stay here again if we return to the area.
ok
Great location, but my king room window view was blocked and the first thing we went in the room smelled foul and there was piss in the toilet. After we asked to get a new room, the second room smelled like cigarettes, the staff didn’t knock on the door when we were sleeping and decided to come in and we valued our privacy during the stay. The room didn’t have a microwave or a fridge, the bed was uncomfortable and had way too many layers. The tv was only cable, For the price we paid it was not worth it at all and they charge you even more after you check in. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights - Saturday through Monday - in November during Veterans Day weekend. The cost was a bit steep, but no more so than surrounding comparable hotels due to it being a holiday weekend during the Christmas season.
The hotel was in a perfect location, steps from Herald Square and a main subway station for access to other parts of the city. So many food options nearby, including a terrific breakfast cart just 2 blocks away. I loved the accessibility and walking distance to the Flatiron district, Times Square, Macy's, Madison Square Garden (where we saw a concert), and more.
Our room was clean and of a typical size for regular Manhattan hotel rooms. Not spacious, but we were there to explore the city. Our room came with a mini fridge and 2 bottles of water. There was a small closet but no dresser.
The bathroom is also small, but the tub is sizeable and big enough for even taller/larger bodies. Great water pressure, too!
All of the staff was pleasant, greeting us each time we entered and exited the hotel. The lobby was gorgeous; I loved the classic tiling and decor.
There is ongoing construction, but this did not impact us as our room was away from that area. My recommendation is to make sure you request a room away from that area at check-in if you think it will be an issue.
I highly recommend giving a stay here a try.
