Depending on your needs, Turkish Airlines can arrange different kinds of assistance. If you have a disability or limited mobility, and need special assistance such as a wheelchair, you should submit a request via the airline’s call centre or website as early as possible, and not later than 48 hours before your scheduled time of departure. If you have requested special assistance for one or more passengers in your party, we strongly recommend that you arrive at the airport well in advance of your departure (at least 3 hours prior to take off) to ensure there is no delay in getting the assistance you need. At the check-in desk, your reservation will be checked. If no request for a wheelchair or other assistance has been recorded and approved at least 48 hours prior to departure, you will be limited to whatever resources the airline team has at the time. Some of your personal equipment may also not be accepted for carriage.
To request/arrange special assistance on the Turkish Airways website, please log into your booking, but only once your flights have been issued (ticketed). Your flight tickets will be issued (ticketed) once they have been paid in full and in line with the ticketing deadline set out by Turkish Airlines. If you wish your flight tickets to be issued (ticketed) earlier so you can arrange special assistance, please arrange the payment of your outstanding balance through the Destination2 website by selecting ‘Manage bookings’. After the full payment has been made, please email customerservices@destination2.co.uk to request that your flight tickets are issued early and please state that you understand and accept that once issued, your flight tickets become non-refundable. In the same email, please request all your individual flight ticket numbers against each passenger name, which you will need in order to log into your booking.
Once your flights have been issued (ticketed), please head over to the Turkish Airways website and select the ‘Check-in / Manage booking’ tab. To access your booking, you need the surname of the lead passenger and the airline check-in reference number, which you will find on your travel vouchers and ticket documents from Destination2. Once you’ve logged into your booking, sometimes the airline may ask you to input your individual ticket numbers on the website before you can proceed (please see above how you can obtain your individual flight ticket numbers if you do not have them).
Once you’ve logged into the booking, please scroll down to ‘Passenger Preferences’ and click on the ‘Special Assistance’ tab. If this option is missing in your booking, it would mean your flight tickets have not yet been issued (ticketed). Please see the above information on how to request to get your flight tickets issued. On the ‘Special Assistance’ tab, go to the passenger that requires special assistance and click on ‘edit’ on the right-hand side of the name. Please select the type of assistance the passenger requires and click ‘save’.
If you are planning on taking your own manual wheelchair, battery-operated wheelchair, mobility scooter or any other adaptive / assistance equipment, please contact the airline. You must do this by phone on 020 3991 1993, as early as possible, and at the latest 48 hours prior to your flight, to get confirmation and authorisation that you can carry your personal equipment on the flight. Please note that in most cases you won’t be able to take your own wheelchair / mobility scooter in the cabin of the aircraft and you will be required to check it in so it can be transported in the hold. When you are contacting Turkish Airways, please have all necessary information ready to share such as make and model of your equipment, dimensions – size/weight, battery type, etc. In order to pass data security, when contacting the airline, please have the following information ready: The surname of the lead passenger and the airline check-in reference number, which you will find on your travel vouchers and ticket documents from Destination2, date of travel and route, number of passengers and names, etc.
