How to plan the perfect honeymoon

After months of wedding planning, your honeymoon is a time where you can finally relax and enjoy life as married couple.

Ensuring your honeymoon is everything you have both dreamed of is essential.

From choosing the perfect destination to getting the best deal, there’s so much to consider and it often seems an impossible task, especially on top of wedding planning.

Check the season

If you’re planning on going on your honeymoon in the summer months make sure you check the season of the desired country as this is rain season for many long-haul destinations. While it’s not guaranteed to rain, you will need to be prepared for some downfall. We’d recommend that you speak to your travel agent or do some thorough research so you can be prepared about how much rainfall can be expected.

Honeymoon packages

Booking your honeymoon online might seem like the easiest option, but it could mean you miss out on some amazing honeymoon packages. Speak to a travel operator (call Destination2 on 01244 957 730) and ask if they have any honeymoon packages for the country you wish to visit, you’ll be surprised at how much money you could save. These are especially common for Indian Ocean countries such as the Maldives.

Every hotel is different about how long after your wedding you can take advantage of a honeymoon package. We’d recommend that you look into this as soon as possible so you don’t miss out on these amazing offers. You will also need to take your wedding certificate on holiday with you to prove that you are newlyweds.

Child-free hotels

If you’re travelling without children and you want to truly relax, we would recommend booking a child-free hotel. This means you’ll be able to enjoy your honeymoon without hearing any children playing in the pool or cries at dinner time. If this isn’t possible, look at booking during term-time as this should minimise the number of children and also save you money.

Flight times

Do your research and book the flights which suits you the best, even if they cost slightly more money. Most long-haul destinations require you to get a connecting flight, make sure you take note of the stopover time as you don’t want this to eat into your honeymoon. If you’re unsure whether the stopover time is too long, ask your travel operator for advice.

You will remember your honeymoon for the rest of your life so make sure you pick the destination wisely. If possible, book somewhere you’ve both always dreamed of visiting.
