The long awaited IMG Worlds of Adventure Park is set to open on the 15th of August 2016. At 1.5 million square feet (or 28 football pitches) the park will be the largest indoor theme park in the world, beating the previous record holder; Lotte World in Seoul, South Korea.
The park is split into 4 distinct zones, each with their own theme. There is an area based around Marvel Comics, featuring favourites such as Spiderman and The Avengers.
There is also a Cartoon Network themed area for the slightly younger kids, where you will find classic kids favourites like Adventure Time and Ben 10.
Then there is Lost Valley, which is themed around dinosaurs. This section of the park was created especially for IMG Worlds of Adventures, featuring animatronic dinosaurs made by robotics firm Kokoro. This Japanese firm are known for creating the animatronics in London’s Natural History Museum.
Finally there is IMG Boulevard, a place to take a break for some shopping and dining, and maybe even catch a film at the 12-screen multiplex.
Some amazing rides have been announced for the park already. The Avengers Battle of Ultron is the first Avengers themed roller coaster to be completely in the dark, similar to Disney’s Space Mountain.
For thrillseekers, the Velociraptor manages to hit speeds of 100kmph in under 3 seconds, an incredible feat for a rollercoaster that starts off indoors.
The Cartoon Network zone will feature “The Powerpuff Girls – Mojo Jojo’s Robot Rampage!” a children’s roller coaster that, like Battle of Ultron, has a theme of battling a robot.
As well as the white-knuckle rides, there will also be some more visual based experiences in each zone. The Cartoon Network boasts what may be the world’s first “5D” experience, Ben 10 5D Hero Time. Nothing has been revealed about what makes the ride 5 dimensional at the minute, all we know is it takes places in a specially modified theatre.
Hulk Epsilon Base 3D in the Marvel zone is a similar concept, even if it is lacking in a couple of dimensions. Visitors are seated in a motion seat in a completely 360° stereoscopic cinema, where they will experience a Hulk fight like never before.
