Jais Flight, Ras Al Khaimah holidays

Height of fun

Jais Flight is a phenomenal attraction where you’ll soar across jagged peaks and swoop through deep ravines at Jebel Jais, the tallest mountain in the cloud-piercing Hajar mountain range. This record-beating zipline is the place to get your adrenaline pumping when you attach your special superhero-style harness which lets you take flight, aerodynamically and belly-down, for 2.83km at breakneck speeds of up to 160mph. This epic white-knuckle attraction is not for the faint-hearted as you descend from the dizzy height of 1,680 metres, gazing in awe at the jaw-dropping natural landscapes below. A professionally trained team of experts will be on hand during your time at Jais Flight to ensure the highest standards of excellence and safety are maintained throughout.

Bear Grylls Explorer Camp, Ras Al Khaimah holidays

Bear essentials

Put your survival skills to the test at the Bear Grylls Explorer Camp, a fabulous attraction which will push you to the limits in the mountainous wild outdoors. You’ll be put through your paces by highly-skilled instructors who are trained in survival techniques practised by world-famous British adventurer Bear Grylls OBE. The aim of this gruelling primal course, designed by Bear Grylls himself, is to equip you with the vital skills needed to survive the challenges of the wild desert lands and mountains. A range of courses are available, including one which has been tailor-made for families. You'll stay in a log cabin at the camp in Jebel Jais and undertake a range of mentally and physically demanding activities, including rock climbing, abseiling, instructor-led hikes and ziplining. Other activities include archery, rope courses and mountain biking. If you love a challenge and want to reconnect with nature, this popular attraction is a real winner.

Jais Sledder, Ras Al Khaimah holidays

High-speed thrills

Strap yourself in tightly for an exhilarating adventure on the Jais Sledder, another fast-moving attraction at Jebel Jais where you’ll clock up speeds of 40mph as you hurtle down the imposing Hajar mountainsides. This electrifying ride will see you cover 1,840 metres of hair pin curves and waves of undulating terrain for an incredible eight minutes. Your closeness to the ground in a toboggan-like vehicle will make it seem as though you are travelling at 10 times the actual speed, with the wind pinning back your face and the high-energy experience making you ecstatic with excitement. The aerodynamically-designed sleds can accommodate two people in the front and one in the rear. After your sensational ride you can relax and enjoy some delicious fare and refreshing drinks at 1484 by Puro, the highest restaurant in the United Arab Emirates.

Suwaidi Pearl Farm, Ras Al Khaimah holidays

A pearl of a place

The Suwaidi Pearls Farm is a wonderful attraction which gives a delightful insight into the pearl diving history of Ras Al Khaimah, which dates back to the 12th century. In bygone days communities of men would attach turtle shell nose clips and dive for exotic translucent pearls, which would later feature in the jewellery of royalty and other esteemed figures. Located in the small fishing village of Al Rams, this is the only pearl farm in the region and it’s a must-see attraction for any visitor to Ras Al Khaimah. You’ll enjoy a fascinating journey on a traditional pearling boat and get to open oysters onboard, in the hope of revealing an exquisite pearl inside which you can take home and treasure. You’ll learn about the diving techniques of yesteryear and how pearls are farmed in modern times, as well as maybe even getting the chance to dive for your own pearl.

BestTimeToVisit

Ras Al Khaimah has a desert climate and experiences very hot and arid summers, with mild winters. Average temperatures range from around 29°C to 43°C in July and 12°C to 25°C in January. A great time to holiday in Ras Al Khaimah is between November and February when temperatures are very pleasant and comfortable, making conditions ideal for lounging by the pool, enjoying water sports fun on the beach or setting out to explore a plethora of epic attractions. This charming emirate is a popular choice for a winter sun holiday, with many visitors taking the opportunity to escape the cold and dreary weather in the UK. Temperatures can rise during the summertime, but thankfully the hotels, shopping malls, restaurants and big indoor attractions are air conditioned. Ras Al Khaimah experiences occasional rain and thunderstorms in the winter months. Overall Ras Al Khaimah is a haven of year-round sunshine and promises an authentic and easily accessible Arabian experience.
