Greece Coast

Corfu

Craving the chance to enjoy solo travel and embrace your inner Donna? North of the other Ionian Islands of Zakynthos and Kefalonia, Corfu was the mesmerising setting that captured everyone’s attention on ITV’s 2023 hit TV series, Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream. Immerse yourself in a world of Instagram-worthy moments, surrounded by sapphire waters, rugged mountainous landscapes and olive groves. Take a romantic stroll amid sand dunes and natural wildlife on Isoss Beach or head to the well-known coastal village of Paleokastritsa for jaw-dropping landscapes and endless sunbathing spots. The shallow waters and exquisite tavernas of Glyfada Beach make it a great choice for families with young children, whilst Kavos boasts plenty of beachfront nightlife venues with epic DJ sessions. Excellent snorkelling opportunities await on the rocky Avlaki Peninsula and Vouvalomantria Beach, situated on the eastern tip of northern Corfu.

Greece Coastal Town

Rhodes

Rhodes, the 4th largest island in Greece, intertwines a symphony of seaside serenity and historical allure. At the southernmost tip, you can laze on the soft sands that separate the Mediterranean and Aegean seas in Prasonisi. This ‘Green Island’ provides a high-wind haven for kitesurfers and windsurfers. Near the lively town of Faliraki, 4km of pebbles and turquoise waters make up one of Rhodes’ lengthiest shores, Afandou Beach. Full-day excursions will transport you to Traganou Caves, where you can leap into crystalline waters, as well as Anthony Quinn Bay, an impressive snorkelling site that narrates tales from yesteryear. Just a short stroll away from the 14th-century Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Elli Beach is a sunbathing hotspot with enticing beach clubs and a diving platform. Tourists often favour Lindos Beach for its classic backdrop of whitewashed houses.

Mediterranean sea

Crete

Prepare to be amazed by 650 miles of sensational coastline on Greece’s largest island, situated in the south of the Aegean Sea. Considered one of the most glorious beaches in Greece, Elafonissi Beach promises magnificently clear waters and pastel-pink sands. If underwater exploration is your thing, this area’s crystal-clear waters are one of Crete’s delights, with a huge range of majestic marine life, along with many aquatic wonderlands just off Chania town. Sprinkled with ancient ruins, the sought-after city of Rethymno is located on the north coast and boasts close proximity to more than 20 fabulous beaches. After hours of fun in the sun, the historic Venetian Harbour is fringed with traditional tavernas serving mouth-watering Greek mezze, tasty moussaka, world-famous Gyros, and local spirits like Ouzo. Nestled on the very west of Crete, the spellbinding Falasarna Beach attracts many surfing enthusiasts, whilst Balos Lagoon delivers dazzling views in a remote location.

Greece Beach

Halkidiki

Looking to uncover the best parts of mainland Greece? In Halkidiki, there are three extraordinary peninsulas that still provide that island ambience you crave. On Kassandra’s peninsula, expect unrivalled sunsets on Sani Beach and a host of lively beach bars and delightful eateries at the popular Kallitheas Beach. For a remote expanse where you can soak up the sunshine, cool off in the azure Aegean Sea, and stumble upon a nearby lighthouse, Possidi Beach is your winner. In Sithonia, families can unveil an exciting realm of water sports at Armenistis Beach or paddle with the little ones in the shallow waters of Kavourotrypes Beach. Couples that seek seclusion will love the picture-perfect Kalamitsi Beach, or Kalogria Beach for its adventurous trails in lush pine forests. Although less known, the Athos peninsula holds a rustic charm that both sunbathers and land explorers can enjoy.

Greece Coast

Kos

Be seduced by the coastal beauty of Kos, an intoxicating Dodecanese island where you can rejuvenate your mind, body and soul amidst hues of turquoise. Among the island’s most popular resorts, Kardamena boasts sun-drenched shores where couples and friends can create everlasting memories. Head to Lambi Beach for splendid ocean views and British-themed bars, venture to the quiet Agios Fokas for ‘au naturale’ bathing, or savour fresh seafood in the local restaurants of Mastichari Beach. Families can delight in fun-filled days on pristine white sands and calm waves at the Blue Flag Tigaki Beach, or opt for afternoons of water activities and land games at Kefalos Beach. Known as ‘Little Rhodes’, Kos provides luxurious daily excursions to nearby islands, such as Nisyros, Kalymnos, and Pserimos. Brimming with romantic seafront restaurants, a 5,000-year old history and opulent resorts, Kos beckons honeymooners to indulge in unforgettable moments.

BestTimeToVisit

Best Time To Visit

Both mainland Greece and its picturesque islands are blessed with an abundance of daily sunshine. If you are looking for a summer escape to catch a deep tan, the optimal time to visit spans from May to October. Temperatures peak in July and August, consistently hovering in the 30s. Corfu, Kefalonia and the other Ionian Islands experience particularly hot weather. In the summertime, the strong and dry Meltemi winds typically affect the Cyclades Islands of Mykonos and Santorini the most. The shoulder seasons of May to June and September to November present delightful times for a quieter holiday where crowds are fewer and temperatures are calmer. These are brilliant periods to roam around cobbled streets and marvel at historical landmarks and bewitching attractions. During the winter months of October to March, the islands showcase pleasant weather conditions, with daily average temperatures rarely dropping below 10°C. On mainland Greece, temperatures tend to fall a few degrees lower and avoid the higher amount of rainfall that the islands receive.
