If you enjoy a spot of retail therapy while on holiday, Dubai is the perfect city for you.
Globally recognised as a luxurious destination, renowned for its lavish hotels and restaurants, you will be unsurprised to find some of the world’s largest and most inviting shopping venues here too.
With this in mind, we’ve put together an ultimate guide to shopping in Dubai.
If huge discounts, promotions, citywide sales, raffles with huge prizes, child-friendly entertainment, street food, fairs, fireworks and cultural performances sound like your thing, then be sure to attend the Dubai Shopping Festival or Dubai Summer Surprises.
If you’re headed to Dubai in December or January, then the Dubai Shopping Festival is a must for any keen shoppers. If you’re travelling in July or August, then the Dubai Summer Surprises is not to be missed if you delight in hitting the sales.
The magnificent Mall of the Emirates is a shopping destination that really does tick all of the boxes.
The mall features a wide variety of luxury shops and suave department stores, as well as some of the finest eateries Dubai has to offer. What’s more, the mall also has a cinema, theatre, art gallery and an indoor ski slope.
Dubai Mall is also a shopper’s paradise, with more 1,200 retail outlets to explore. The mall is also home to Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, an astounding destination for families in the midst of a shopping extravaganza.
If you want to enjoy a more authentic Middle Eastern shopping experience, head to Dubai’s souks. Despite the popularity of the city’s modern malls and shops, these eastern-style markets still play a crucial part in the city’s daily life and trade.
The souks are a sure fire place to grab a bargain while enjoying a taste of Arabian culture that you won’t find during a shopping trip to one of Dubai’s more extravagant malls.
One of the biggest boasts of Dubai is their extended shopping hours. Although shops don’t tend to open until 10am - a little later than shops open in the UK - they do stay open for an impressive 12 hours before closing at around 10pm. This means you get plenty of time to explore in the day and shop in the evenings, if that’s what takes your fancy. You could, however, just spend the whole day shopping of course.
If you’re tempted to hit the shops in Dubai, visit Destination2.co.uk’s Dubai Holiday page and start planning your escape today.
