Very relaxing resort, not a crazy party vibe which is what I prefer. Not super busy this time of year. Decent buffet choices. Didn't try any of the a la carte. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable with lots of pillows and great air conditioning in building one. Staff were incredible, everyone checks in on you.

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Montego Bay in Jamaica, and while the property is beautiful, the overall experience was disappointing. The resort is located on a stunning piece of land with great views, which is probably the highlight of the stay. The rooms, however, are just average. They’re not luxurious by any means, but they get the job done. Similarly, the food is decent—not bad, but nothing to write home about. I did discover my love for muesli cereal during my stay, which was a nice surprise.
Unfortunately, the biggest drawback came in the middle of the night when the air conditioner in our room caught fire. It was a terrifying experience, like something out of a nightmare. I had to quickly unplug the unit to stop the fire. Since the hotel was fully booked, they couldn’t offer us another room until later the next day, so we had to spend the rest of the night in a hot, uncomfortable room. For the price, it felt like a decent deal, but this incident made the stay far less enjoyable. I don’t think I’d return to this hotel, and I can’t really recommend it to others based on this experience.

This is a great hotel, it is dated but as much time as you spend in your room it's not a big deal. The ocean view is amazing, the staff is very friendly, the hotel is very clean and the food is always delicious. I cannot say enough great things about this place, the little island is great for quiet time and family. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Spent 1 night at the Catalonia Resort formerly Holiday Inn. Stayed there previously under the Holiday Inn brand as well. The food is similar to what was there previously. I am a pescatarian so not much options for me to eat and what I had was edible but not great. The kids thought there would have been more Jamaican menu options. They picked at what the got from the buffet.
Check in took about an hour but the staff were nice.
The sliding door for the room did not close properly. The bathroom had a leak when we went in the room and was handled quickly by a maintenance technician that was in the hallway just as I was walking down to the front desk to make a report. The phone did not appear to be working however the technician did show me how to get it to ring. The televisions did not work. Love the beach area. Hoping the new owners have plans of renovating the rooms among other updates to the property. Food can be improved.

Honestly, it all depends on your needs in a vacation. If you want to swim or event life I wouldn’t suggest it. It’s set up for smaller kids because of all the shallow waters but just adults I wouldn’t suggest t recommend. Lots of things are broken like elevators, and the stairs smelled like pee and mold, coffee pots, you hear the road, people fighting, some building had no hot water until having it run for 5-10 mins, no room service or resort maps, to make reservations for restaurants were really weird and couldn’t have front desk or the restaurant itself help you. We didn’t get bedding after asking for 6 hours and when they did they only brought the sheets and not the comforter so had to ask again and it was a while. Lots of sea grass everywhere in water and can only utilize very little of the shallow beach. Patio furniture looks discolored and really old. Check in was not enjoyable. No welcome, no help, no wet towel, no juice, room wasn’t ready so had to store our bags and when our room finally was available we had to wait 25 mins for someone to help us get our luggage out the storage. I departed early due to this issues and didn’t even try to attempt to somehow fix it or anything. They don’t have anyone to break bills to tip either.
I’m a travel agent and wanted to give this place a try for clients and I would absolutely not recommend to my clients.
