Equator Village is a delightful retreat by the ocean, enriched by the intriguing history of the RAF Royal Air Force station from World War II. Gan Island eloquently showcases its colonial heritage through the scattered remnants of old RAF barracks and bungalows, harmoniously coexisting with lush tropical greenery.
At Equator Village, you can look forward to a poolside bar, a terrace, and a coffee shop/café. With amenities like a beachfront location and scuba diving, this hotel is the perfect place to soak up the sun. Treat yourself to a facial, a massage, or a body scrub at the on-site spa. The on-site buffet restaurant, Blue Lagoon Restaurant, features international cuisine. Stay connected with free in-room WiFi, and guests can find other amenities such as a garden and laundry facilities.
You'll also enjoy perks such as:
An outdoor pool and a children's pool, with sun loungers
Free self-parking
Bike rentals, an outdoor tennis court, and a roundtrip airport shuttle (surcharge)
Express check-out, express check-in, and a front-desk safe
Gan boasts verdant tropical greenery, beautiful blue waters and links you to the very explorable Addu Atoll via a causeway. Located in the southernmost region of the Maldives, Addu has gracefully preserved its natural tropical charm throughout the years, unaffected by the hustle and bustle of modern life. With a captivating history that includes the presence of the British RAF and a brief independence movement, Addu and its resilient inhabitants proudly maintain their autonomy and unwavering spirit.
Every Friday, guests can enjoy a vibrant cultural show featuring Maldivian locals showcasing their unique way of living through traditional dances. The lively atmosphere is enhanced by live music hours, creating a truly immersive cultural experience.

Front desk staff is rude. Most people don't speak English very well. The bartenders were nice.. The folks doing the room cleaning were nice.. The food is terrible... Barely edible.. and not a lot of variety. Service at the restaurant is slow and spotty.
The internet is spotty at best, weak and unreliable.
I had multiple issues with it during my four night stay.
When I first checked into my room the hot water didn't work.. They did fix it. The beds are two single beds smashed together.. I had other colleagues verify this..
Laundry service was excellent.
No workout facilities. There is a spa but I didn't partake.
The beaches are beautiful... There isn't much in town for shopping or sundries.. there's nothing at the hotel for any of that. I'm sure it's great if you're on a budget but expect to get what you pay for.
One last item... I hope you like roosters... Cuz the one they have here, never sleeps...

The hotel is not a 5 stars resorts , so don’t expect too much. This hotel is currently the only hotel in Addu that has Alcohol license. If you are staying in other guesthouse, there will be no alcohol.
This hotel is quite old, you can notice from the room smell, toilet smell, as well as furniture that rusted or pain came off. However, everything still working well, so other than its old… everything else in the room works fine including wifi!!
Food wise, its a big let down. Even for local dish like Mashuni and roshi! Mashuni has too much of coconut while roshi is so thick and dry. This is by far the worst mashuni with roshi i have after living here for 2 years!
They also dont have espresso machine, so thats a big minus for me.
Service is good. The staff are nice and eager to help out and getting to know what their guest wants. If you are like me, who take the same drink, you wouldn’t have to order on your second day…just show your face at the bar or sit down in the restaurant and they will have your drink ready for you!
Pool is in goos size and looks clean. A bit of a pity that the pool side bar was not open during my stay. Would have been better with the pool bar.
The beach has a lot of seaweed. So I did not dear to swim, but I saw a fee people went out for snorkeling and some said they saw turtles. However, the hotel offer free snorkeling tour at 10am and 2pm everyday. So that could be something fun to do if I stay longer.
They also have bicycle to use for free. Its very convenience for me as I have to go to the next islands quite often. Using a bicycle definitely a much better choice than walking.
On Monday night, they have live band musiic starting from 8pm, which is quite a nice activity!
All in all, my stay was okay. My highlight of the stay were all inclusive package which allow me to drinks!! Monday music, and bicycle for islands exploring.
Last but not least, Thank you for arranging airport transfer at 4.10am instead of 3.25am!! That extra 45min of sleep means a lot to me!
