This is definitely NOT a luxury hotel. You get ONE key per room regardless of how many people are in the room. (Yes, I said key). The room fridge is only stocked on arrival day with water. All other days, we had to purchase bottled water or drink regular tap water. The crew that cleans the room is not responsible for replacing towels. When we couldn't wait for that crew, due to previous plans, we were ensured that it would be taken care of. Upon our return, we found a plastic bag with towels hanging on our door handle. There's really no entertainment besides someone playing music through their phone. (The music was good though). There is a pool table with uneven legs, so the balls do their own thing when played😆. They're always short of towels at the beach/ pool area. Most of the staff is friendly. A special shout out to the guy at the omelet station..best attitude ever!!

Glaringly obvious that foreigners are more of a priority than locals when everyone staying all inclusive is spending the same money. Rooms are decent, bathtub slippery, non-slip mats need to be added. Wait time to be seated for breakfast & dinner too long. Wait time for all drinks ridiculously long especially as your order would be forgotten & you have to keep asking. Most came when we were almost finished eating. I think they are in serious need of additional staff in order for things to be more efficient. The food was really tasty most of the time, now & then there'd be dishes that lacked flavor, we didn't enjoy any of the desserts, all the cakes tasted like box mix unfortunately. There was a handful of excellent servers & kitchen staff but some servers were rude & impolite. Lunch at D'Bay Grill was excellent, as well as the service. The pool & jacuzzi are lovely. Overall rating 3/5 (being generous here). I would not recommend but to each his own

Rooms needed to be upgraded but the prices are reasonable for all inclusive meals. Meals were good. My last year visit meals were a bit better and served on time. This year there was limited staff at times. The pool was clean this year. I would return to this resort as they are a work in progress with respect to renovation. I hope that they are able to cover the expenses of the upgrade in time to attract more tourists.
I absolutely love the deck where we ate.

After reading some of the reviews I was pleasantly surprised when i arrived at the hotel. No it’s not British 5 star standard but then it is the carribean. The hotel was clean and comfy ..the staff were amazing and very helpful . The beach and views were just what I wanted and the food was carribean…who would have thought 😂 I’m not sure what some people expect but I was more than happy .
And the icing on the cake was meeting Derek Sandy on the beach . There were plenty of tour guides around but Derek showed us the true parts of the island . He is honest and trustworthy and his knowledge of the island is second to none . More importantly he does 1 to 1 tours so you’re not part of a big group meaning no time limits and trips tailored to what you want. Also he’s a lot cheaper than the other tour guides .
So if you want the true Tobago experience book starfish hotel and Derek Sandy (look him up on YouTube)
See Derek in the photo …always happy and always singing !!!

Let’s cash walk out the door
I was quite surprised when this hotel let us, a group of six, walk out the door
We were staying elsewhere on the island, but came here for lunch.
First, we were told we must pay an entry fee of USD$22 per person, and then pay on top about USD$50 each for lunch.
Looking around their virtually abandoned pool and beach, I was surprised they were prepared to send us - money - away empty handed
Perhaps a new policy to say yes to outsiders coming in for lunch could do the trick
