Currently staying on Embudu Resort. I have read the reviews and most are very positive. I have read some that are rather negative. This is a moderately priced resort. The location is outstanding. About a 15 minute boat ride from the airport. The resort itself is really nice. Beautifully maintained, lots of trees makes for a very tropical feel. The beaches are super clean, white sand and turquoise water. The room are great. Most with water views, big and well appointed. The open dining area is next level. Dedicated tables and endless food. I read a couple of negative comments about the food. I have no idea why except some people just love to complain. Food has been outstanding. So much to choose from. You would never get bored with the food. Fresh and very tasty. 5 stars. The bar area is lovely and the drinks very reasonably priced. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff are so nice. So friendly and really appear to love being here. The smiles are genuine. There is no pool but there is a huge ocean. There is limited activities but why did you come here?? The snorkelling and diving is awesome. Straight off the shore. Coral and fish aplenty. The resort does run well priced excursions if you wish. Will did a half day tour of Male which was great. This place is flash. Sure not the flashiest but also not expensive. Value for money is excellent. As hard as I try I can’t find any negatives. Ideal family destination as well. Just remember this is not a pompous 6 star sterile resort. This is a beautiful well appointed and maintained affordable island resort. We highly recommend.

Rating: ★★★★☆ Embudu Village is a very charming and authentic Maldivian resort. The facilities are dated and would benefit from some renovation, but everything is well maintained and very clean. Service is punctual and friendly. The island is small and never feels crowded – during our stay there were very few guests, which made the atmosphere peaceful and relaxing. The sea is crystal clear, and the house reef is just a short swim from the beach, with plenty of tropical fish to see. A perfect choice if you’re looking for tranquility, snorkeling and a genuine Maldivian feel rather than modern luxury.

This resort offers a simple, relaxed atmosphere, ideal for families and anyone seeking peace and tranquility. ​1. Atmosphere and Style (The Defining Factor) ​Embudu is ideal for those who value the natural experience and serenity more than modern luxury. ​Authenticity: The atmosphere is absolutely relaxing and chilled. The best proof of this is that we were barefoot the entire time—shoes were completely unnecessary. ​Accommodation: The bungalows are simple but functional and perfectly suited to the island's style. They are nestled directly under the palm trees, just a few steps from the beautiful beaches. ​Hygiene: Everything was very clean. ​2. Nature and Reef (The Biggest Value) ​The island offers authentic nature and is incredibly accessible, just 15 minutes from the airport. ​House Reef: The house reef is only a few meters from the beach with an incredible marine world. There is an abundance of tropical fish, as well as sea turtles and sharks (Blacktip Reef Sharks). It is perfect for snorkeling! ​Scenery: Beautiful scenery everywhere. You can walk around the entire island in about 20 minutes, which is ideal for an early morning walk and watching the sunrise or sunset. ​3. Service and Gastronomy ​Staff: The staff are wonderful and extremely helpful. ​Food: They have fantastic, diverse international cuisine with a special accent on Indian cuisine. The food is absolutely delicious. ​Bar: The bar is great, with affordable prices and wonderful cocktails. ​4. Final Recommendation ​Embudu Village is a wonderful place if you are a nature lover and are looking for the Maldives with an excellent living reef and top-notch service, at a fair price. It is an authentic tropical paradise. We are already making plans for next year!

The Yapper (eats nutro)

Embudu village is one of my favorite resorts I have visited. It's very near to Male and the airport, a short 15-20 min speedboat away. The resort itself, despite it's age, has good faciltiies. While the island is small and naturally shaped, not the long weird shapes made due to land reclamation, the area is used very well, as most of it is lush greenery and trees. The trees make it possible to walk from the room to the restaurant for lunch, on the usual blistering heat of the Maldives (speaking as a local). Now that we are on the topic of food, I simply cannot express my overwhelming love for the delicious food werved! I had some of the best beef, chicken, curry, and rice here. However, i must warn that as the village caters to Haram tastes, that pork and alcohol meals are also served. One night, I was looking forward to eat some beef but there only was beer beef, so I had to refrain. Nevertheless, the halal food is a 10/10 and the coral reefs near the resorts are stunning, nothing like I've seen in some other islands in K Atoll.

I've been to many resorts in the Maldives, but Embudu Village holds a very special place in our hearts. It always feels like coming home. And over the 20+ years, we've seen many improvements. Added to that is the excellent dive center Diverland, with well over 30 years of experience in the Maldives. The dive sites in the area are fantastic and easily accessible in 10-30 minutes. The world-famous Embudu Express is also nearby. The house reef, with its famous Coral Garden, is also always worth a (night) dive. All in all, a great resort with very good value for money and a quick transfer from the airport. We look forward to our next visit. Sandra and Udo

My two sons and I stayed at Equator Village in June 2025. For the price and convenience to Gan Airport this resort is a great choice. PROS: 1) Near Gan Airport, so it is quick to/from resort. This is especially useful if you are coming from Sri Lanka as Sri Lankan Airlines has direct flights to Gan Island. 2) There is a reef just off shore, which has really nice snorkeling. Nearly as good as any you will find by boat 3) Good Value: Staff, food and room are good for the price 4) Because this isn't a "trapped" resort, for guests it is much easier to go see other parts of Addu Atoll. 5) Staff are really nice. CONS: There isn't really a "beach" but still there is sun-bathing area near the shore. The rooms aren't on the shore/beach front, but within a short distance.

Extremely impolite behavior from the front desk staff (fahm).So we were not booked and left the hotel to book another hotel. So I will not recommend this hotel to my colleague also.

We stayed here in February 2025. It's a nice place but be aware that it appears to be in a decaying state. The village earned many awards for excellence up until 2018, sadly nothing new since then. Rooms are clean, the grounds are somewhat kept up. The area is beautiful. Food is mediocre, not the greatest at all. It's just OK. Staff is really amazingly helpful. It is advisable to purchase the full All-Inclusive package to, if one elects to purchase the Half Board you will be treated as second class, you will pay for water at dinner, you will have to pay $18 USD if wanting lunch there on property. High Tea in the late afternoon is $5 USD, again if not all inclusive. If you use more than the water allowed in your room, you will pay for extra as well. Thie water rationing seems to be a thing in the Maldives.

Stayed after a diving safari for a view days in this hotel. Its close to the airport and the safari boat jetty. Was a nice stay and absolutely worth, we enjoyed our downtime after a week of diving.
