I just wanted to say that I called the front desk very late in the day to see if they could do something special for a business traveler's birthday. The woman at the front desk (I wish I got her name!) went above and beyond and send the most perfect piece of Milkbar cake to her room. It was perfect and just made her day. I am so grateful for the awesome service and kindness of this employee. Thanks for going above and beyond! A + service.

I gave up amenities in favor of location. I stayed in this hotel two times. They could use some renovation, especially the showers. Larger towels would really be nice to have. One of two elevators was out of service and getting in and out of the room took a long while. I did enjoy the view, the proximity to Tribeca, SoHo, Chinatown, subway…

I stayed here one night recently and had several issues, none of which were addressed or resolved by the property. The first thing I noticed was that the fee to park a car was $85 by valet, or $55 to self park. I opted to self park, and they handed me a card with an address on it and told me that's the address of the parking garage (it's about 7 minutes from the property). I unloaded my bags from the car, drove over and parked and walked back, finished checking in (all of this took about 30 minutes) and then waited for about 10 minutes for the elevator to take me to my floor. One of the two elevators was broken, so there were about 12 people waiting for rides up to their floors, and the single elevator had to make multiple trips before I was able to make it upstairs. I then noticed that my room (which was advertised as a "Tribeca View" room) overlooked only a large AC unit on the roof of the lobby of the hotel. I decided not to ask to move rooms, partly because the front desk seemed so overwhelmed (the lady who checked me in said she didn't really know anything about the property, because she was filling in from a different property since they were short staffed). The last big issue I had was when I went to take a shower the next morning before I headed to the airport. The hot water in my bathroom was so hot that I burned my foot pretty badly when I went to take a shower. It wasn't bad enough to require medical attention, thankfully, but it was bad enough to leave a red mark and it hurt for the rest of the day while I was traveling home. It was very difficult to adjust the shower to a temperature that wasn't scalding (I had to turn it almost off, for it to be just warm and not so hot it would burn). As I checked out I mentioned that this happened to the lady at the front desk, and she seemed very unconcerned. I reiterated that it could have been much worse, the temperature of the water was nearly boiling, thankfully I barely put my foot under the water for a split second and quickly pulled it away. She finally just said she would tell maintenance to look at it. Definitely won't stay at this property again.

I rated the rooms low because of the elevators. They were unbelievably slow and only one of two even worked. From the ground floor you could be waiting a good 3 minutes for an elevator and there are only six floors. Also, our room card kept deactivating. Eventually someone at the front desk said that you should not put it in a pocket with your phone or your wallet or it will demagnetize it and therefore I wish you carry it in the little envelope it came with all the times. That reasoning didn't seem plausible and carrying around the sleeve was inconvenient. Otherwise, no complaints about the room itself though. Service was slightly under perfect. First I got charged for the full stay by the hotel when we checked in despite having already paid through the booking site. It was not until the last day of our stay that it was all worked out and the hotel admitted they messed up. But I had a $1,200 hold on my credit card for my whole vacation which made things difficult. Haven't seen the charge come back on my credit card yet but hopefully it will soon. However the people that I did speak to each day about it seemed to really be doing everything they could. End of the stay put a further damper on things. We had left our four bags of luggage behind while we went out for the day after checking out. When we came back to pick them up the woman went out back and came back with just two of them. It would not have been impossible to bring all four out at once, they weren't really big bags. So I just politely asked if she knew they were two more. She looked me dead in the eye like she couldn't believe how rude I was being and flatly said she's about to go get the other ones. Like I should have known that. There was just no need for the attitude. Location is great. Just uptown from some of the biggest sites. Subway station is right there but a lot of things are walkable.

It is a good value for the area-within walking distance to Tribeca, Soho, West Village and Battery Park area. The rooms are clean, neat, average NY size and good if you are out a lot enjoying being so close to so many wonderful areas and need a decent place to crash. The remodel of the lobby is very nice. The front desk staff was an unpleasent experience -they will be talking & laughing & then stop & scowl at guests. I asked for a double bed & when I asked why my room fee was higher she said there was a fee - when I said I didn't know about the fee & would stick with my original booking-she was rude. Overall, it seemed they disliked the guests and wanted to be rude-I dreaded having to talk to any of them.
