The Rockley has been reimagined as an experiential, urban hotel bursting with personality that seeks to connect guests intimately with the community and to showcase and celebrate all that makes Barbados and this part of the island so special – it’s people, food, art, music and culture; not forgetting the amazing beach that is located directly across from the hotel.
The hotel interiors include a collection of local art, iconic Bajan items like the Bus Stop Sign, playful Bajan sayings and thoughtful locally crafted amenities, all designed to give the Rockley a real sense of place. In this new iteration The Rockley’s reception, restaurant, pool deck and public spaces have all been upgraded and repurposed adding an “art for the people” gallery, an outdoor covered bar area with a Beach Club vibe, a funky air conditioned interior dining area perfect for grabbing a quick snack or coffee and a fully equipped fitness room, play space and guest hospitality suite.
The Rockley breaks from the traditional, self-catering, accommodation and provides a fun, playful, stylish, and hip hotel where you will feel welcome, entertained and at home.

This is definitely not a 4 star hotel for multiple reasons.
First, breakfast is of very poor quality. For our 5 day stay we ate there once never to return again. Coffee was disgusting.
Second, to get to the ocean you need to cross a busy road and then a parking lot with a bunch of local taxi drivers and just people loitering in that area -- drinking, smoking, etc.
Third, bar personnel is rude and dismissive.
The cherry on top was a 5-9:30 karaoke in their entertainment agenda. Hotel staff said it would finish at 9, but it just kept going. The sound is cranked up all the way and a bunch of drunk people shout for more than 4 hours and you can hear every word in your room. Most of the people signing are not from the hotel, as there is no security at all to get to the bar. We have complained about it multiple times, but nothing was done. I take it the bar sales are more important than the comfort of their guests.

This hotel was formerly called South Beach Hotel. Most islanders & taxi drivers do not know it as The Rockley, yet. Please remember this or they won’t be able to find it.
This hotel is in a great location with easy beach access. You are given tokens to get a beach chair & sun-lounger. Beach towels are changed everyday. We had a bit of an issue locating the guy to exchange the token with on the first day but after that, it was fine.
I had a one bedroom apartment which was lovely. The bed was amazing & huge. The sofa bed was not so comfortable but that’s usually the case. It had a full size fridge/freezer & stove. I didn’t use the stove but I will the next time I come here, as I plan on staying for a lot longer.
AC in bedroom & lounge- Needs attention.
The hotel has a pool & a bar. Breakfast can be purchased or can be included with your trip. Breakfast was a bit repetitive if you stay for longer than 5 days but it’s still actually quite good. The staff in the restaurant are nice but I did see a difference in how my party was treated to another party of guests. The lady that was in charge was off that day & I do believe that if she was in this issue wouldn’t have occurred. I did address this with the reception staff/management & on my return I hope these will not happen again.
There was another couple of issues but I am going to wait until I return & see if they’ve made any changes. - update to follow 2025
On the whole. I love the location of this hotel & with a few tweaks, this will be my go to hotel for all my visits to Barbados.
Late check out is available for a fee. You have to ask on the morning of your departure. They will not tell you before.
Also note that no food is served after, I think, 3pm but there’s lots of food places nearby.
Keep up the good work guys. See ya next year
PS. The staff are so friendly. I love them all!
1 thing I didn’t get to do was tip the lady who did the housekeeping in my room. She was off the day I left. I will definitely look for her when I return & give her some money. She did a great job. Thank you!!

We loved our stay at the Rockley.
We went for my mums birthday and the staff were amazing!
She was given a lovely card and balloons in the room she was over the moon.
Everyone was welcoming and helpful in particular Lydia and Troy’s service was a step above average and we are truly thankful.
Nothing was too much trouble and it showed.

The art adorned on the walls (by local artistes), the Bajan colloquials carefully lovingly stitched on the cushions within their rooms, to the eccentric hotel reception and the superb service all round. Simply put: The Rockley is an island within the island of Barbados. Would I return? Yes. Highly recommendable.

This was my first trip to Barbados. I selected this hotel specifically for the design, decor and aesthetics.... and yes the hotel is as beautiful and vybesy as pictured. Like you walk up the stairs or pull your suitcase up the ramp and you enter this vibrant place of paradise. Friendly staff greeted me daily and at the time of check in I was greeted with a cold towel ( Barbados is hot af) and a welcome drink. Shonta, Olivia, Zachary, John and Lydia were a few of the memorable staff on my stay but collectively everyone worked well as a team ensuring that they delivered top notch customer service.
My junior suite was better than expected, as I entered the room ( every time I entered the room) I smiled. Lovely layout, thoughtful furniture and light placement, great view.
The pool is such a great focal point at the hotel couldn't walk pass it without wanting to get in. The drinks at the bar were all refreshing and delicious and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable with giving recommendations. I love that food and drinks could be delivered to you around the pool and the hotel had the most efficient food tray container that made eating and swimming very convenient as food was secure when you were away from it.
While in Barbados I left the Rockley to stay at another hotel to end off my trip. The hotel I selected proposed itself to be luxurious and it was all-inclusive and from the time I checked in to when I checked out, I regretted not completing my stay in Barbados at the Rockley.
I have stayed in quite a few hotels and at the Rockley I felt the hotel, its staff, the food ( make sure and get those seasoned fries) , the location, the drinks, the atmosphere, the energy definitely elevated my amazing stay in Barbados.
