Excellent service from wonderful, caring staff. It's a wonderful oasis in an urbanized neighbourhood. Beautiful, clean beach. Food was always delicious and provided in good portions. Spacious accommodations on 2 levels.
The main detractor for me was the room A/C; it was Very loud, not particularly strong and the single unit in the bedroom was not enough to reach the living area on the lower level where it was consistently uncomfortable.
The positives strongly outweighed the negative.

Service 1 star is the reception only !
Bar 4 star restaurant 4 star mostly
Being greeted when we checked in wasn't great, 1 person on reception and she didn't really want to be there.
So all through the week we asked about having a late check out, to only be told it has to be done on the check out day...
Ok so we go & ask first thing in the morning we are supposed to check out.
No not available. Funny it's the same girl who checked us in. Excuse its full.
Well looking around the restaurant & beach the place is not full and given no international flights arrive until 2 pm, i fail to see how it would be full even if the whole flight turned up.
Shame as we were happy to pay extra to hold our room.
Now the good stuff.
The bar staff, alway willing to help u or make something special for you.
The Restaurant, there are some really good staff and some average.
Again they are all willing to help when asked.
Location is top notch 👌 cannot fault the access to the beach or the outside seating area.

Great food. We went in May. Beach was amazing, turquoise clear water, but not a long beach for walking. Nicer beach than Bahamas. Enormous seaweed storming down the beach last day, but that’s not their fault. They have someone cleaning it out daily. Chef Paul made some amazing food. Lots of vegetarian options were there for my co-travellers. Lamb, chicken, beef and pork was good, they don’t serve all the same protein every day, they switch it up.
Safe for kids. Not a super busy hotel so it was nice.
Alcohol beverages were great, better than Jamaica, Turks and Caicos
Shakes were very good, kids tried all the flavours.
Pool is shallow, ideal for kids.

Room was fantastic the A/C really cooled down both the bedroom and the living room/kitchenette area. Top tip leave a note with the front desk to not turn off the A/C when room service leaves.
Overall service was good not great at times hit and miss, no real complaints though, Overall acceptable.
The beach was absolutely beautiful and perfect in all ways. Calm stunning waters. Sandy floor next to Worthing Beach another great spot to go to if a red flag is up at the resort beach.
Food for the most part was good breakfast buffet fantastic. Lunch was either a buffet or sit down depending on the day same for dinner. Our one experience at the roof top Noir restaurant which is the only air conditioned eating location. Food there was fantastic service impeccable. Lack of A/C in the main out door dinning area can be a challenge due to extreme heat and humidity. Oh and keep an eye kn the birds joining you for all meals. Overall good experience.
Location is absolutely perfect walking distance to the St Laurence Gap for those that want other eating and night life options. Close to shops and pharmacies, and a discount market for consumable goods and low prices vs the Market at the end of the parking lot.
Room Service was excellent room was serviced twice a day. Only improvement would be having a do not disturb sign for the door.
Highly recommend The Sands for couples and families.

Wonderful hotel, incredible views, amazing location. The island is a very happy place, and this is reflected in the warmth and reception of the staff at The Sands and everyone we encountered whilst in Barbados.
The bartenders especially were fantastic and very helpful in choosing cocktails for me lol.
The rooms were clean, a good size, and a god-send in the heat with the air conditioning. We had ample space, and separate bathrooms in our 2-bed room.
*Edit to add in that I am vegan, and can attest there are plenty of vegetarian options here.
I didn't declare my dietary requirements (just personal preference) so can't comment on how accommodating the hotel would have been, but I still found plenty to eat. There is a supermarket a few steps from the entrance to the hotel which stocks lots of vegan foods and snacks, so I got by very easily.
Being on the edge of the beach was unbeatable, and being able to wake up and swim in the ocean was so special. The pool was a selling point for us, and with the views, proximity to the bar and music playing, made it difficult to want to leave the hotel on some days.
We had a tour by Antonio on our last day, who is affiliated with the hotel, he drove us around the entire island, and was super friendly and bubbly.
From the hotel you can easily take a bus or taxi into Bridgetown, walk to St Lawrence Gap or wander along the boardwalk and see the gorgeous beaches.
We took two excursions with Tiami Cruises whilst we were here, one turtle watching, and the other was a Sunset Cruise. We got picked up nearby our hotel and dropped back. They are my highest recommendation if you're in barbados.
Highly recommend this hotel!
