We had high hopes for Accra beach hotel, but unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. Our daughter got sick on the plane and was throwing up constantly. Her being so weak, we just wanted to check in and get her rested. From the start, check-in was a disaster — we had to wait nearly two hours because they didn’t have clean sheets ready for our room. After a long day of travel, this was not the welcome we expected.
Things didn’t improve once we got to our room. The rooms are very dated and not particularly clean. It felt like they hadn’t been properly maintained in quite some time. To make matters worse, we didn’t have any towels in the room. We requested them in the morning before heading out for the day, but when we came back around 4:00 PM, we still didn’t have any.Basically we had towel issues every day.
For a beach hotel, not having towels available is unacceptable. The overall lack of organization and cleanliness really soured our stay. We definitely wouldn’t recommend this place and won’t be returning.

Lots of nice things here, and the weather can't be beat. Overall we had a great time.
I'm going to focus on the things to watch out for to help people have realistic expectations before coming:
Watch out for the rum punch (free welcome drink). It's like 3 drinks. Don't overdo it your first night!
Some employees are top notch, especially at the front desk. Many others are not so nice. Either way, if you make a request for something, it's not like Canada, you probably won't get it, even if the nice person really expects that you will after they've forwarded your request to housekeeping. Just politely keep asking periodically, but even then you may not get it. I would probably tip when you do get your request, it's nice.
Look for the guest appreciation happy hour on Tuesdays, I think 4-5pm. We didn't know. Free drinks.
We had a very unpleasant arrival. By coincidence they were doing a weekly (or so) "fogging" which makes you feel like you're in a DDT commercial from last century. We experienced basically zero bugs in Barbados but apparently they are worried about mosquitoes unless they black out all the air in the place as if the building was on fire. They claim it's a natural safe product. I'm not ok with that, I doubt it would fly with Health Canada. Most guests had a day's warning and planned to be away, but we had just arrived to the main lobby and even running outside couldn't escape the chemical warfare. What a shock.
I didn't eat at the buffet restaurant but the staff there was really nice to me when I needed something. Other guests who paid for the expensive meal plan said the food was not good there and they spent additional money to eat off-site. There are many great options within a 5 minutes walk.
The beach (in Feb at least) is great but you usually can't swim right in front because of red flags due to intense waves. You can walk down 5 minutes and often go in at yellow flags, but only if you are fit and coordinated. Not for children. You can take the 11 bus cheap up to Carlisle Bay and find much calmer waters (and free snorkeling within swim distance from the beach! Don't pay for a boat tour if you just want the snorkel part, they bring you to this same spot close to shore)
The ocean view rooms are actually pool view first, and you see the ocean further back. Still nice, but for direct ocean location you have to pay for the bigger rooms right on the two ends of the horseshoe shaped building.
If you aren't a sound sleeper you do not want an island view room on the east or North faces of the building. Loud road traffic. West might not be as bad.
TV had streaming options, but I tried for an hour to just let me show some photos from my phone or USB and it didn't work, also not through Chromecast. Frustrating. Other than that we didn't use it, so nice to be outdoors in Barbados.
Room and bathroom were nice enough and clean enough, thank you. Housekeeping often skipped the room if you happened to be in it a couple times, even when you made sure to let them know you were now leaving for a few hours and they had plenty of time left on their workday. Even when we left some BBD on the pillow for them every day. Most of them don't seem thrilled about doing their jobs, and you can tell. But again, a few are very nice and friendly even just in passing.
Small mini fridge was useful to keep a few things from the convenience store across the street, or grocery store further down.
Secret! Microwave available to your room, for free, upon request!
They have a outdoor "disco" area that played music every evening, but not a single person went there, ever.
The games room has a ping pong table which is fun and in good shape, but nothing else. The workout room was pretty decent for what I expected. Lots of dumbbells and a few machines to cover many exercises.
So overall it was nice, but he prepared for some experiences and people to be hit or miss.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. I used to come every year before the pandemic. I was so excited to come here but I am disappointed. The jacuzzi in my oceanfront room is out of order. The place looks run down. The swim up bar is closed. The staff are so unfriendly with the exception of a few. It almost feels like a ghost town. It’s absolutely boring at night. There is nothing to do here. The rooms are still dated. I do love that it is right on the ocean, which is stunning. The food is also good and there are kiosks near the hotel and some restaurants along the boardwalk. The location is great but this hotel has gone down. The staff used to welcome you with a rum punch while you checked in… it felt so welcoming. Now they give you a ticket to get your free drink at the bar. Out of 3 bars, only one is open. I’m now searching for a new hotel to go to in the future. I have another 4 nights here. Hopefully, i will enjoy the remainder of my trip. Managers and staff need to step up before it’s too late. I have an emotional connection to this place. I fell in love with Barbados here, but I think it’s time for a change.

The best thing about this hotel is location. It’s just perfect one! Room was fine. Was missing a water bottle actually and jacuzzi didn’t work that time!

Amazing place on the beach. Public transport is easily accessible. The service was good. However, rooms can be upgraded a little. AC leaks, water settles on the bathroom floor. Yard was not cleaned. (room 210)
