We have had a great time at the Golden Mare Hotel. The staff were absolutely amazing. Always helpful and friendly. The food was nice. There was always something different each evening. The rooms were cleaned everyday. We had a Seaview room and the views were stunning. The area lit up at night from the rooftop bar is even better. The evening entertainment was also great, particularly Kirkmy and The Blackout Band. Thank you Golden Mare team for a very nice holiday.

A lovely resort with great service and amazing views. We were able to delay our checkout for a few hours completely free of charge which was useful for our evening flight. All inclusive package, food was okay with some Greek speciality dishes served for dinner which were tasty. Drinks was average with the water testing salty it affected the taste of the cocktails. The only issue we had was the room that we stayed in did not have effective drainage in the bathroom which lead to a damp smell that was difficult to remove. All in all not a bad stay and good value for money.

GUIDE TO BOOKING 1: tourist tax. When you arrive you will be expected to pay £35 per person. 2: facilities: nice rooms, build quality lacking in some places. Don’t pay extra for the sea view rooms. They all have one. The more expensive rooms are up a steep hill away from the main complex. Clean and well maintained. Fresh towels daily. Pool is nice. Don’t bother with the paid for bar upstairs. 3: parking, there is parking at the front. Don’t rely on buses and transfers. Hire a car but know the roads are mountain roads and not well maintained. Not much in the area. You will want to explore. 4. Food. Is pretty awful. Unless you like cheap jelly and ice cream with some moose. It’s the same everyday. Quality of food is very low and they rotate American, Italian night etc. it’s like an English school dinner. It’s poor. The restaurant fills up fast. You will be made to wait or turned away. Meat is to be avoided as is fish. 5. Water is salty in the sink and showers. Dont leave showering late. Might not be hot water. 6. Service is hit and miss. The spa doubled in price when we stayed. We intended to use it but it went from 30 to 70 euro randomly. 7. Noise. There is entertainment on every night till 10:30. If you want an early night it won’t be before then. The British drunks also ruin it. 8. Kid friendly. Yes. 9. Bar is all inclusive. Soft drink options are limited. 10 on site shop for essentials. Would I stay again. Unsure. Food let it down. If the food was edible I would reccomend it. Just budget to eat elsewhere frequently.

Good hotel, I liked everything there, I especially liked the table tennis under the roof, hidden from the wind. The food was delicious. Good service, the manager was very good. Jacuzzi didn't work however it was indicated on their website that there was a Jacuzzi.

Disappointing experience. The only positives are the view and the pool, however: 1) Cleanliness: our room was only cleaned ONCE (we booked it for 4 nights / 5 days). It was just utterly disappointing for the price that we paid. No towel replacement, no new sheets or at least taking out the garbage, we are not asking for much here. 2) Bathroom: hot water was almost Non-existent! We had hot water only one day out of the 5 days that we stayed there... Oh, and do not expect to have water all the time either... water pressure comes and goes, once my girlfriend had to finish her shower with mineral water.. 3) Accommodation: we booked the more expensive Double Standard Double Sea View, yes there is a great view, you are up the hill though so expect a bit of climbing (with and without your luggage). 4) Food & Drinks: since the tap water in the hotel tasted a bit salty, I am pretty sure that the coffee machine in the restaurant uses salty water .. my girlfriend was quite disappointed as she enjoys a cup of coffee every morning (as do I). Also, we sometimes skipped meals and instead went to the nearby restaurant (not something you should be doing when staying at a 4-star all inclusive hotel to be honest). 5) Other: expect occasional power cuts (we experienced 3 of those during our stay, although they do get resolved rather quickly).
