Well located with a beautiful small beach and many pools. It could be a really lovely 4 star hotel. Alas, the hotel desperately needs an influx in cash and refurbishment and a new exec chef. My room was very spacious but no warmth to it. The bed was very comfortable though. The air con so loud as well as the bathroom extractor. The bathroom bin is so rusty that I won't even touch it. Everywhere I went, clearly was run down and needed replacement. The bar shack is so outdated and I felt for the team working behind it. Finally, the food is just not good. Heavy, unimaginative and not good produce. Sometimes it is better to keep it simple and local. I was there for a night so I wonder how guests staying for 2 weeks do. The staff was actually quite friendly in the Caribbean manner.
Not great and not bad, basically!

I recently stayed at Hodges Bay, and I can’t say enough about the experience. The rooms were stunningly beautiful, immaculately clean, and well air-conditioned, providing a perfect retreat. The food was outstanding, with a top-quality menu that brilliantly showcased local flavors, along with some Americanized options for those preferring familiar dishes. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful—they clearly understand hospitality at its finest, making the resort feel expertly managed.
A special mention goes to our server, Tango, who was an absolute treat! He knew how to work a crowd and brought an infectious vibe to every meal—definitely a highlight of our stay.
The beach area was beautiful, with spectacular views that made for the most serene mornings and evenings. I spent a lot of time lounging by the main pool, but I also enjoyed the pool at the water’s edge, complete with a bar—a fantastic spot to relax. Hodges Bay is a true gem, and I’m already looking forward to hopefully returning next year. Highly recommended!

The resort was outstanding. The staff was very friendly as well. They upgraded us to a junior suite and made my daughter sweet 16 very special. Prickly Pear, a small island minutes away from the resort is a true gem and a must visit. I would highly recommend this resort.

I would not recommend this hotel if you are looking for a luxury resort in Antigua!! We didn’t feel comfortable staying here because; 1) the staff were so unfriendly and unhelpful and made you feel like you were putting them out when you asked for a water. 2) you had to pay extra for a proper coffee at breakfast as they only served instant coffee, when you are already paying so much for the room I thought this was outrageous. 3) the owners were sat around all the time drinking Diet Coke and didn’t engage with the customers, you felt like you were unwelcome guests in their own home. 4) there was no art or mirrors in the rooms so the rooms left empty and cold, there was so much art work in the reception area so it felt so odd to not have any in the room. 5) you got little bottle of water which didn’t get replaced so it was super hard to drink enough good water each day. 6) the beach was fake and you could see the plastic sheeting under the sand which didn’t look appealing. 7) the staff were hard to find around the pool area and seemed to spend the whole time chatting in a corner. 8) it felt dead and eery, for example the posh restaurant was empty and it felt like a ghost town, which added to the weird vibe of the resort. Save to say we won’t come back!

Stayed there one night and then on a day pass a few days later during a 10-day sailing trip around Antigua. Here is how I would break down both visits;
Pros
* Beautiful view of Hodges Bay and Prickly Pear Island.
* Swimming pools and hot tub are very nice.
* Neat statue of an astronaut dancing to selfie with.
* Taxis usually readily available.
* Close to the airport.
* Close to La Bistro french restaurant.
* Ice cold A/C in the room.
* They offer day passes.
Cons
* Room had no hot water on the evening of our overnight stay.
* Room had NO water at all on the morning of our overnight stay. We were asked to wait in the room for maintenance which arrived at 11am (check out). Then when I checked us out, I was informed it was now 11:09am and that check out was 9 minutes ago and there may be a late fee.
* Toilet flushing mechanism was broken and had to be fixed.
* The power outlets along the wall of the TV did not work.
* Staff did not care nor helped.
* Room had Nespresso pods but no Nespresso machine.
* Room had open 12oz coffee bag and no coffee machine.
* Service in the restaurant (breakfast) was discourteous and incredibly slow.
* It took them 22 minutes to get me a printed receipt showing a zero balance due. I was the only one at the desk with 5 people working.
At the end of the day, I would go back on a day pass only. I would not stay there again.
