My family got food poisoning at the Thai Buffet!
Visited the hotel in July of this year. First impressions were fantastic, the hotel is grand and very impressive. Room was super and spacious - we had an issue with a faulty light and large leak later in our stay but a maintenance team was sent out to fix these problems. Pools were nice but there is substantial building work going on so it is loud around the pool areas.
As a family we visited the Thai Buffet meal as a treat, it was really expensive but we thought it would be nice. I am a vegetarian so didn't eat any meat whereas the other members of my family did. Approximately 6 hours after eating in the buffet, the three meat eating members of my family became seriously unwell with sickness and diarrhea. They were really unwell, especially my two children. We contacted reception for clean bedding etc and extra water/ room cleaning.
I made a complaint to the management team who sent a representative to our room despite everyone still being sick etc. We had to fill multiple forms out. I asked for the meal to be refunded in the first instant and was first denied and was told this wasn't hotel policy. During a second meeting in our room, I was offered a 50% refund but only on the condition that my family, who were all being sick and had diarrhea at the time, traveled to a local hospital whilst it was 33+degrees outside. When I said they couldn't do this I was told that I couldn't therefore get a refund as they didn't believe that it was food poisoning as there were no other cases. I explained that we had all eaten and drunk the same foods since arriving in the hotel and that the only difference was that the meat eating family members all had a pork dish at the buffet were ill whereas myself who doesn't eat meat wasn't.
A further 48 hours later, I was asked to go to reception where I was told I could in fact have a refund as the documents from the restaurant had been checked and one of the pork dishes wasn't at the correct temperature. Although a member of hotel staff told me this, the hotel have since claimed that no issues were found. This is an outright lie, the hotel have also claimed that they suggested and offered a refund willingly which is also a lie.
Furthermore, my refund was only started over a week after checking out of the hotel. This was only after I contacted the hotel team to check on the refunds progress, I know they had made no attempt to make the refund as they asked for my bank details during this later interaction. I found this particularly annoying as I had asked whether they needed any details from me before checking out and they said no.
There has been little to zero concern shown by the hotel for the welfare of my family and the fact that we lost a day and a half of our holiday through illness caused by their food. They did offer the chance of a free meal and a possible room upgrade (if available on check in) if we wanted to book again - I found this to be an empty offer as they are aware that we are from the UK and trips to Thailand aren't a regular occurrence.
Avoid this hotel if possible!

After the first not so good start to the holiday where we were not satisfied with the cleanliness of the room and the food we were contacted by the F&B manager Mr K and Miss Bow. The cleanliness of the room has improved and so have the dining options. The room is huge right by the beach. Nice staff who try to make the holiday an unforgettable one. We are looking forward to the year 2025, when we will return again.

Staff is excellent and that can really make a difference. This resort is big. If you get a room by the lobby area, not the beach, it's cheaper of course but it seems like a hike to the beach and pool. Rooms that have direct access to the pool seem cool, however, I imaging you would always have people swimming outside your sliding door at any time the pool is open. Our room was a nice size but shower lacked pressure and wasn't hot enough. This became a little annoying. The overall location, this is where I'm not sure as we could have just had an unlucky weather system when we were there, 4 days late July. "No swimming" flags up the whole time on the beach. Fortunately for us, we had a boat tour, elephant tour, cooking class, stuff like that as we're not actually beach people. Otherwise would have been really disappointed. Despite that, I wonder if Bang Tao is the best option even if the weather was stellar. I didn't want to stay at Patong for its appeal to tourists and red light style, but maybe Karon beach would be worth considering. Although an hour or more from the airport, probably worth it to be closer to marina, Old Town, and other sights.

Stayed at the facility from October 25th thru Nov 2nd 2024, Services were excellent, very clean environment, food service was great, all the hotel staff were very helpful, knowledgeable about various task, very patient and accommodating, with guests. This was my second time at this facility, I planned to visit again with my family.
The facility is both individual and family friendly...👍. Facility is also an ideal destination for both business and vacation.

We just spent night 2 of 3 here and unfortunately, Angsuna has fallen short of expectations. Our pros are somewhat expected of a 5 star resort, our cons are where we think it must improve
Pros:
* The resort has a great gym, one of the best we have seen in many resorts.
* The breakfast was an excellent spread and variety - we were well impressed. One of the better aspects of the resort.
* The staff are super friendly and helpful, and I am sure put in a lot of effort that exceeds this review.
* The location is excellent, short walks to some great places and lots of eating options along the beach too.
* The grounds (other that the lagoon referenced below) are kept immaculately. Beautiful resort.
Cons:
* We initially got a Laguna Grand Room which was shoved down the far end of the resort well away from everything else. We opened the door to the lagoon but were presented with a collection of garbage and plastics - less than picturesque. We had to upgrade at an extra cost of 2000thb a night, for a much better room. Avoid booking at the lower end here.
* We went to the resort's beach front bar - and unfortunately had the worst whiskey sour I've ever had (which says alot) to the point where I feel they maybe left the whiskey out - the other 3 cocktails we had were ok but nothing to write home about.
* We ate at the Thai buffet night tonight. For 3800thb we left feeling like it was a bit of a rort. Two cocktails and a freshly cooked phad thai were delicious but the rest of the meal was very very poor. I dont discount the effort the staff made to cook the meals and accomodate us, but we had eaten far better, or atleast equivalent, along the beach for a mere fraction of the price. I would strongly recommend avoiding this option. It felt like an expensive gimmick.
* Unfortunately, housekeeping came while my wife was in the shower. I'm sure it was an accident, and maybe she missed the knocking, but this made her feel very uncomfortable. We had nothing on the door or in the room to suggest we could turn on "do not disturb".
The resort absolutely has the ability to be a great resort. And by most reviews I read, it definately presents better than our experience. And the review doesnt reflect how nice, friendly and helpful the staff have been. So, my 3 star review is not suggesting its a 3 star resort, it's a 3 star result from a 5 star resort. Given its status and rating, we expected more from our stay, especially given we paid what we consider a lot across both accommodation and food/drink. We will be eating outside the resort for lunch and dinner tonight.
