Lovely place to visit, staff are nice, buffet is good. Overall a very good experience However 1) Wildlife and native plant species is limited (Hibiscus, Ficus, Mirabillis, Cocos, Plumeria, Ochrosia, Scaevolla etc) 2) There's only so much swimming and snorkeling you can do before the sunburn takes you out 3) Things are in USD and severely overpriced 4) Day to day activities start to become repetitive after day 3.

We flew from the UK to Kandima, and from door to door, it took approx 19 hours without delays. This is more for the people who are looking to book this island, so you have an idea - this is not why I have scored this island a 4*. There were 4x of us in one room, 2x adults and 2x older children (11,15). we had one of the sky view rooms, great location on the island. We have 3x bath towels and 3x beach towels replenished each day (this was odd for me as there are 4x of us. I spoke to reception and still continued to get 3x towels during our stay. 2x glasses to drink from in the room, mini bar had 2x of each drink we done a lot of sharing. The sofa bed had a single duvet on it for both of them to share. Again, I had to ask reception to change this for a double to fit the size of the bed, you are also only allocated 2x sunbeds outside the room regardless of how many people are staying in the room. It just seems very odd, but this wasn't a big issue for us as we took it in turns to go in the water, etc. Service - if it wasn't for 2x bar tenders, I would have marked this lower than a 5* they really looked after us (twins guys can't remember the spelling of the names). Service without them around was pretty slow re: drinks. If I spoke to reception about anything, they actioned swiftly. The hotel was only half full. I think they would struggle if they had been full. They have a little hop on and off bus on the island this is great to get around although you can get from one part of the island to the next in 30x mins maximum amd that is a stroll. Buffet food - erm this is not the best in my opinion a lot of the same foods each day. Lunchtime was better than evenings for some reason. We really enjoyed the Al A Carte restaurant 'Smoke'. This was by far the best place to eat, book your evening meals for the restaurants, and pick for yourself. The Mediterranean restaurant was bland and not very good. The Seadragon is in a lovely setting, and the food was not too bad. This would be my second choice to go to. Location- we didn't realise how far away it actually is, and it is not clear when booking as the clock looks like it stops ticking on your booking once you hit Male. We had to wait for a domestic flight (Manta Airways, 39x min flught). This was for approx 1.5 hours, then get a coach, then a speedboat. You will need to add on another 4 hours approx to this journey to a count for the extra travelling. It was Halloween and Divalli when we were here, and they really did great doing up the island it was great to see. Overall the holiday was lovely. However, in short, the food could have been better. Drinks could have been better. The correct allocation of items for the people staying in the room would be useful. Recomendation - it would be great if some lights could be added off the pier pointing down to the water so you can see the ocean come alive at night. We would not return to this island as there are so many others to visit. I hope you have found this review useful.

Truly a paradise. The ocean with waves on one end and the serene blue water beach on the other side of Kandima makes it a unique experience. The room size and the view it offers are truly magnanimous, especially the ocean pool villa. Hospitality was great. Our trip got delayed due to connecting flight issue and we happened to miss our booking. The reception staff Anwar went his way beyond to get us go with our original intended booking without any hindrance and as a step ahead he even helped us upgrade to an even better villa. Overall a heavenly experience. Kandima will stay in our memories forever. Thanks, Dhianesh.
