e recently spent 9 days at a hotel in Zanzibar and wanted to share a few highlights and helpful observations for future travelers. When we first arrived, the room we were given had a very strong moldy smell, which was a bit of a letdown—especially if you’re sensitive or have allergies. Thankfully, the hotel staff quickly moved us to another room, which was much better. That said, if you’re particularly sensitive to damp smells, it’s something to keep in mind. Beyond that, the rooms were clean, the swimming pool was lovely, and the overall facilities were well maintained. We were on an all-inclusive package and were genuinely surprised by the variety and quality of the food. Even after 9 days, we didn’t find it too repetitive, which is rare! The drinks were fabulous and beautifully presented—definitely a highlight of the stay. Weather-wise, July brought a lot of clouds, and the sunshine was limited. While not ideal for full-on sunbathing, it’s obviously not something the hotel can control. What truly made our experience memorable was the exceptional staff—incredibly polite, helpful, and genuinely warm. Their hospitality added something special to our stay and left us with very positive feelings overall.

I booked with confidence from the earlier reviews, but as our arrival approached, some newer reviews made me nervous. No reason—our stay was fabulous! We did breakfast included, which was great, and there were tons of walkable restaurants right on the beach plus plenty of markets for shopping. The shower had strong water pressure and hot water (just one afternoon it was lukewarm). Housekeeping was excellent—when I asked for washcloths, extra towels, and conditioner, everything was provided quickly. They even left small flower designs in the room each evening, which was a thoughtful touch. Check-in and check-out were smooth. The bar service was friendly, though the cocktails could have been mixed a little better. The pool was clean, beach towels were always available, and umbrellas on the sand were easy to grab. We really enjoyed our stay and the beautiful view from room 234. Would happily return!

The hotel itself is very enjoyable, with excellent service and a staff that is extremely friendly and attentive. It is located right on the beach, and our room was spacious and comfortable, with a wonderful balcony overlooking the sea – the view was just stunning. The hotel is also within walking distance of several restaurants where we enjoyed dinner in the evenings, which was very convenient. We also tried the spa and had an amazing massage, which was definitely a highlight of our stay. Breakfast was decent, though nothing exceptional. One point for improvement would be adding more sunbeds around the pool, as they were missing. Overall, we had a great time and really enjoyed our stay.

We spent our Christmas holiday at Nungui Beach Resort by Turaco and we had an amazing stay. The garden was maintained beautifully and the white sand beach was stunning. There was Gala dinner on Christmas Day, it started with welcome reception with drinks ( Glüwein too, we are from Germany and it tasted really authentic!), and then comes with the huge selection of buffet, and live music and shows. It was an entertaining evening, it’s expensive but worth it so highly recommend to book a ticket. There was a travel agent on site and we booked a PADI open water course for our 12 years old son. His instructor could speak German (native) and French in addition to English, so he could get all training in German, she was great and very good with kids, anyone who consider their children do the course I can highly recommend her. On arrival we had an issue with our room, and a manager, James took our concerns seriously and managed to solve the issue promptly. We greatly appreciate his and his team’s attentiveness and care, also all what you did to provide us a comfortable and enjoyable stay!

7-Day Family Holiday at Nungwi Beach Hotel We had a fantastic 7-day family holiday at Nungwi Beach Hotel. The experience exceeded our expectations in many ways. Food: Excellent quality with a wide variety of options each day. One evening even featured king prawns, which was a highlight. Entertainment: Live music during dinner added a great atmosphere and made the evenings special. Staff: Everyone was friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. Accommodation: Our room was spacious, clean, and very well maintained. Beach & Sea: Beautiful setting with minimal tidal movement – perfect for relaxing and swimming. Activities: We went on two dives at the local reef, and the experience was even better than we expected – great visibility and marine life. Overall, we had an amazing time and would definitely recommend Nungwi Beach Hotel to others looking for a memorable beach holiday.
