We paid over $24,000 for six guests to stay here for 6 nights (Friday to Friday), and the experience fell far below what a resort in this price range—and under the Marriott name—should deliver. Arrival Be prepared for a 2+ hour drive from the airport on narrow, winding, one-lane roads through rougher areas. After a long flight, it’s an exhausting start to the trip. Diamond Club Experience We booked Diamond Club, expecting a premium experience with reliable butler service. Instead, the service was inconsistent and unreliable. Several requests were acknowledged but never completed, and the follow-through did not match the advertised “premium” tier. Service Across the Resort Service throughout the resort was hit or miss: • At restaurants and the buffet, even basic drink refills or simple requests were often forgotten. • At the steakhouse, our group waited over 2 hours for food while loud karaoke played nearby, completely ruining what was supposed to be premium dining. • At the bars and food truck, we were ignored for 10+ minutes multiple times, and many menu items were unavailable even during normal hours. Many staff members were warm and friendly, especially toward our kids. But other times staff seemed unhappy, overwhelmed, or disinterested, making service feel unpredictable and inconsistent. Facilities & Infrastructure Issues • Guests all week were complaining about broken elevators in their buildings. Eventually our building’s elevator broke too, leaving us to carry two kids up four flights of stairs every day. • Our penthouse area (two rooms, three bathrooms) had intermittent hot water. It would get slightly warm at times but never stay hot, with showers constantly bouncing between lukewarm and cold. • None of the hot tubs on the property were actually hot. They had jets and bubbles, but the water stayed only warm at best—never reaching real hot-tub temperature. Spa The spa was one of the few genuine highlights. The hydrotherapy area with strong water jets and warm pools was relaxing, clean, and well-maintained. Overall Considering the $24,000+ cost, the Diamond Club upgrade, and the resort’s 4–5 star marketing, the experience was nowhere near luxury. The property feels more like a 2–3 star resort with major service and infrastructure issues. Marriott should seriously reconsider the management or ownership of this property before these ongoing problems continue to damage the Marriott brand. We would not return.

Unfortunately, this was the worst stay I have ever had at an all inclusive resort. From our very first day my family experienced poor service, poor communication, and low quality food and drinks. I have never been to a resort that literally functions as if they were expecting closure any day now by carrying the minimum amount of food and drinks on property. The food provided was tasteless and bland. Room service, when it actually arrived was put together poorly and inconsistent in regard to the portions provided or the taste. The only places my family and I were able to find edible food was at the sports bar which had decent fish and chips, and the food truck set-up that came out during lunchtime. We splurged this trip and bought into their hideaway services. It was definitely not worth the money spent as the butler service was less than useful most of the time. I'd expect something as straight forward as retrieving luggage from the rooms we purchased to be well within their capabilities, but alas on our last day there they failed me nearly causing us to miss our transportation off property because we ran back to get it ourselves. Even after all of this, I think the most frustrating discovery was that they don't change the bed sheets in the room. They just fold over the dirty sheets and straighten it out to look "neat". Changing the bed linen is the minimum done at even 2 and 3 Star resorts and for a so called 5 start resort not to is actually disgusting. So no I will not return to this place, I will not recommend it to anyone, nor will I entertain any of their locations anywhere else. I honestly don't know what happened to this resort as they carry many awards and accolades from years ago, but they have absolutely lost any and all hospitality that they once had.

DO NOT BOOK OR STAY HERE!!! Me and my wife stayed 11/18 - 11/23 For our very special HONEYMOON!! After the first day, I sat down and read reviews. All of the 1 star reviews were 100% correct. I have never been more disappointed in a vacation. Food, alcohol, staff all garbage!! Who serves concierge liquor at a resort? The food and liquor got me sick. Went down to the Friday party in the city and didn't feel safe. All the staff was rude. Room was all broken and the elevator was broke. We had to walk 4 flights of stairs everyday. The entertainment... what entertainment?? So boring. We tried to get a massage to maybe make it better but made us pay and expected a tip before the massage. Anytime we came face to face with a staff member, their first response was "do you need something " so rude!! Hopefully people read all these reviews and not waist time and money. Bring tourist should rise your economy in country, but instead this is tearing it down. We are booking a cruise next time. Again Don't stay here.

I came to this resort expecting a high-quality, adults-only experience, especially after spending a significant amount of money and traveling across the world with my cousin. I genuinely tried to keep an attitude of gratitude, but the truth is the service and overall stay were deeply disappointing. From the moment I arrived, the service was inconsistent, slow, and far below what an international, luxury-branded resort should offer. The food was poor every single day — bland, low quality, and absolutely not reflective of the price point. When you’ve invested this much, you’re expecting an elevated experience, not cafeteria-level meals. What frustrated me even more is that the resort advertises itself as adults-only, but that was simply not true. There were children everywhere — at breakfast, walking through the entertainment spaces, and even in shared shopping areas. An imaginary line separating the “adult” and “family” sides does nothing. If a resort markets itself as adults-only, it should actually deliver that experience. Otherwise, it’s misleading. On top of that, the evenings were incredibly dull. There was no adult entertainment or meaningful activities after 8 PM. For an adults-only resort, nighttime should feel alive, engaging, and tailored to adults. Instead, unless you count one sports bar, there was nothing to do. After a full week, the only consistently positive thing about this trip was the sunshine — and I certainly didn’t need to travel halfway across the world or spend this kind of money for that. I leave disappointed, and I hope the resort takes this feedback seriously. Guests deserve honesty in advertising and a level of service that matches the cost.

We stayed at the Royalton Santa Lucía, two Cuban couples living in the US, and we loved the resort. The service is excellent, and the drinks and food are delicious. The property is majestic and vast, very clean throughout, with magnificent pools and beaches. I loved the spa. The weather is very pleasant, warm like in my country. The shows with dancers are fantastic. They should have more entertainment activities after the shows, like after-shows and parties until 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning. We recommend the resort 100% and will definitely be back soon! 😘😘😘😘😍😍😍😍🩷🩷💗🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😄😄😄😄😄😄🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️!!!
