We spent a week here early March 2025. A wonderful resort - beautiful tropical setting, lush landscaping, attractive rooms, nice beach, - and above all - Rey quiet and peaceful. Our room was a “swim out room” with direct access to the infinity pool from our room. Had all meals at the hotel - excellent food and an ever changing choice. Service was a bit slow but all staff were friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist. Beach is small but not at all crowded - plenty of seating for everybody - no need to get up at six on the morning to reserve a lounge chair. Music every night at dinner time - some singers/instrumentalists were quit good. A happy hour one evening for guests to intermingle. Overall a top notch resort -small but well worth it.
Only issue is the ride by car to and from the airport - a two hour drive over nasty roads! Next trip, we would try the helicopter or the ferry

Just spent three nights at Calabash Cove and it was a great stay overall. The food was top notch for a resort and the service was outstanding. Unfortunately we had two separate issues with water coming into our room through the balcony door from above us, once at midnight waking us up. The power at the hotel did go out for a few hours but it was during the late morning when we could go to the beach so that wasn't really a big issue, just a few small things you may not expect from a resort this caliber. Otherwise it was a great experience and I would recommend this resort highly for anyone who wants a quiet, relaxing trip with great food.

Massive disappointment for a property with SO much potential!
The Calabash Cove is a beautiful location with the best privacy and tranquility we’ve experienced anywhere in the world. Sadly, the resort — and in particular the rooms — need major updates that it appears the owner is unwilling to do.
The location, beach, quaintness, and tranquility are exceptional. The staff is also impeccable — friendly and helpful and really go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The restaurant and entertainment are top notch and the food is actually excellent — especially given how many islands are very limited when it comes to dining. This resort is one of the bests.
Now, the bad:
1) extremely bright light from the AC in the room— bring a sleeping mask!
2) sounds from the hallway due to bad insulation.
You can be woken up at 1030p or 6am even though the neighbors are fairly quiet. Bring your own earplugs
The ugly:
1) the mattress is worse than a hostel. You have two options. The rock hard and extremely old mattress which will be a memorable and sleepless night. Or the overfly soft gel- style mattress topper that will leave you with back pain in the morning.
2) The fancy jacuzzi tub takes over one hour to fill and by the time that happens the water is luke warm at best. It’s not a usable amenity and they should just have nice usable bathtubs.
The place is in disrepair. For example, the lounge chairs by the pool are completely falling apart. What a pity. The owner is apparently aware and doesn’t seem to care.
The property is definitely not a five star. Confirmed by the management. The use of five stars completely misleading and it should be a three star at best with five star for the privacy, the beach, the views and the staff.
We would have loved to stay here again but the room quality is prohibitive. It’s just too uncomfortable— and it’s sadly a massive disappointment for a property with SO much potential.

The resort is beautiful. HOWEVER, went to the spa for a massage. Massage did not last the expected time duration unfortunately. I did not know the massage time included me undressing and them taking their time to come into the room. The young lady at the front desk of the spa was welcoming.
EDIT: RE: Never did I mention being late. I was not late. We had to wait as they were “prepping” the room nor was I asked any “medical questions”

This resort is in a beautiful private setting, exceptionally clean, and quiet (only 26 rooms). Our room was comfortable and well-appointed with a balcony view of the ocean. The food was good, but limited in variety. The restaurant and bar wait staff were friendly, but service could have been faster if better coordinated.
Note for disabled travelers ~ The resort isn't at all disability friendly, with no elevators and stairs required to get *everywhere*. From our room there were 2 staircases to get to the restaurant, 5 to get around the pool, and 5 to the beach. Our room also had stairs between the main area and bathroom. This information should be better publicized to help mobility-impaired guests make informed lodging choices.
