I'm usually not picky person when it comes to all inclusive, but I like all inclusive for the convenience of not doing anything than to relax.
The property is beautiful.
The beach is clean and the water is amazing.
To get a DRINK at the BEACH you have to go to the restaurant and get it yourself. There is no bar, close by, except at the pool area.

The food was better than my previous experience at Costa Rica Dreams. They said they have room service but only for an extra fee and only at night. Bottled water was an extra purchase as well. The resort was quiet and definitely not a singles dream which was fine with us. The staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed on the Atlantic side but could access the Caribbean side by walking 200 yards across the street. The spa was outstanding. I would not pay extra again for the Italian restaurant as it was a little disappointing. The nightly entertainment was fun. The jerk chicken was delicious. Don't be afraid to take a taxi in to town. Overall we were happy and felt very relaxed.

I have read most of the reviews and I totally disagree with how people have complained about the staff. I found the staff to be amazing. They are always smiling and very friendly. We recognized Allison a member of the activity staff while visiting St. John’s town and she was so friendly offering to show us around on her own time. Each meal we met the most accommodating staff like Twana and Amie just to name a few. The grounds and views are amazing. You don’t go here for fine dining so leave your palate in Europe. The breakfast is substantial to begin the day. We paid the extra fee to eat at the Italian restaurant at night . You will love Roxanne and the music was enjoyable. I did enjoy the service at Eleven 11. The sunset cruise was fun.

We stayed here during January 2025. It was obvious to us that the resort having major management issues. There were many aspects of the stay that fell very short. The majors....We had to ask 3 times to have our room cleaned and get new towels. Finally on the 4th day they came and did it. We didnt get an evening meal 2 out of the seven nights. Although we booked reservations for meals, the wait times were over 2 hours. At that point (9 pm) we just gave up. Families with children were waiting longer than we were. I saw one family with 3 kids under 10 walking back to their room at 10 pm and saying they just got a meal a half hour ago. We also witnessed the staff verbally arguing in the dining areas in front of everyone. Minor issues were that there were no beach / pool towels half of the time and the staff is not even friendly.
The only way they could make this right is to refund a major portion of our stay. They did not meet their end of the bargain and I recommend anyone to stay elsewhere until they can get this mismanagement resolved. All inclusive to them does not mean food or general hotel services. Overall, I would definitely consider going to Antigua again. But I would not be interested in staying at the St James at even half the price.

This is a beautiful resort in a wonderful location, but that’s the only positive here. Every employee is miserable and treats you like an inconvenience. By far the worst hospitality we’ve experienced in the Caribbean. The service alone ruined the trip.
The buffets are inadequate, overcrowded and low quality. Food trays were routinely empty and slow to be refilled. Drinks are served in old, beat up, cracked plastic cups.
The coffee shop? It takes about five minutes per customer. We waited forty minutes in a short line for coffee… and it was only offered in small cups! Absolute waste of time.
If you stay here, come for the view only.
