The food was better than my previous experience at Costa Rica Dreams. They said they have room service but only for an extra fee and only at night. Bottled water was an extra purchase as well. The resort was quiet and definitely not a singles dream which was fine with us. The staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed on the Atlantic side but could access the Caribbean side by walking 200 yards across the street. The spa was outstanding. I would not pay extra again for the Italian restaurant as it was a little disappointing. The nightly entertainment was fun. The jerk chicken was delicious. Don't be afraid to take a taxi in to town. Overall we were happy and felt very relaxed.

I have read most of the reviews and I totally disagree with how people have complained about the staff. I found the staff to be amazing. They are always smiling and very friendly. We recognized Allison a member of the activity staff while visiting St. John’s town and she was so friendly offering to show us around on her own time. Each meal we met the most accommodating staff like Twana and Amie just to name a few. The grounds and views are amazing. You don’t go here for fine dining so leave your palate in Europe. The breakfast is substantial to begin the day. We paid the extra fee to eat at the Italian restaurant at night . You will love Roxanne and the music was enjoyable. I did enjoy the service at Eleven 11. The sunset cruise was fun.

This is a beautiful resort in a wonderful location, but that’s the only positive here. Every employee is miserable and treats you like an inconvenience. By far the worst hospitality we’ve experienced in the Caribbean. The service alone ruined the trip.
The buffets are inadequate, overcrowded and low quality. Food trays were routinely empty and slow to be refilled. Drinks are served in old, beat up, cracked plastic cups.
The coffee shop? It takes about five minutes per customer. We waited forty minutes in a short line for coffee… and it was only offered in small cups! Absolute waste of time.
If you stay here, come for the view only.

A solid and good value resort in a beautiful location!
What was great:
- great value for week all inclusive
- location is absolutely beautiful
- activities and being able to go out into the bay on kayaks etc. We used the fitness centre and tennis courts which were excellent!
- the beach bar van man (although didn’t see him two of the seven days we were there) coming to serve drinks on the beach
- The fact that you get water bottles at the beginning of your trip and then you’re encouraged to fill up at their various water stations. Such a good way to reduce plastic.
- The coffee shop was brill, could always get coffee / mint tea / slushies / cakes etc. But the waste concerned me - plastic cups for water / plastic cups for treats, disposable coffee/tea cups. I saw bags and bags of waste - presumably none of it even being recycled as everything went in the same bins? If waste could be reduced further that would be amazing - maybe people can put a deposit down for a reusable coffee cup at the beginning of the stay that they return at the end?
- Caribbean night at Docksiders was a huge highlight - best food we had there by a mile. Would do more of the traditional Caribbean food instead of the various other themed nights (Italian, Bollywood etc) or always have a few Caribbean dishes available.
- Breakfast - omelette station and fresh juices / fruit were awesome. The pastries were dry and not great which made it easy to resist which is probs for the best!
- Being able to get a sun lounger on the beach any time of day was fab
- Taxis and car hire were super easy and good. Taxis are expensive but that’s life!
What could have been better
- majority of staff were great but there were a few who were really poor. When we checked out we weren’t even asked if we enjoyed our stay and the lady literally couldn’t raise a smile at all - felt like we had done something wrong!
- Not enough staff clearing tables at docksiders led to some big queues with no communication
- Weekends appeared to be lacking with staff but were the busiest guest-wise
- On arrival no towels at the pools (4pm) and when we asked bar staff they said hmmm not sure and so we swam and had to dry off in our rooms
- We stayed in a junior suite and the room was fine - comfy bed and lovely view, but generally very outdated especially the bathroom
- Difficult to get booked into the restaurants that required booking
Feel like with a few tweaks (renovation of bathrooms, changes to menu, plastic reduction, training of staff to just be a bit more positive and communicative) this could be an amazing hotel. It’s great value and seems wonderful especially for families. Sadly don’t think we’d come back as a couple as there are so many wonderful hotels on the island. Thank you so much for our stay!

Not a great trip for our family of 7 with 3 rooms ocean front.
Mosquitos in all 3 of our rooms with doors that don't seal, so more come in every night. Shower were luke warm. Bathrooms had no place to put your toiletries, just 2 pedestal sinks. I've been to many Islands and understand island time, but 45 minutes at Cocos restaurant that requires reservations before your first drinks come is not Island time. Waited another 1.5 hours to get food after being sat at the Dockside for lunch. The help just don't care and it's obvious. Any request is met with angst. I would stay away from this resort and I definitely won't be back. To bad since the resort location isn't a bad place. Fix the service mentality and fix the resort.
