First time in Phuket and I’m really glad I picked The Slate as a base. Only 10-15min from the airport but very quiet. The style is excellent (wood, concrete and steel) and the service even better. Everyone is so caring and smiling. Three pools (only one kids friendly, which is great when you go solo). Happy hours (2 for 1), evening music at the bars, great breakfast buffet and activities to choose from. It’s right by the beach and village as well. Had dinner at Black Ginger and that was an experience. Will definitely be back.

My second visit to this lovely and beautiful resort! A booked a Pearl Bed Suite and it was lovely and comfortable. A huge bed, huge balcony, good bathroom, all in ‘tin mine-style’. I loved the two adult only pools (there is one more bigger family pool). The breakfast buffet was excellent, so much choice and good quality. I booked a massage and Sara was excellent. My 90 minute Abhyanga massage was all I hoped for. Two back entrances bring you straight to the beach, where you can also find small street food restaurants of excellent quality. Although the resort is close to the airport, you will hardly noticed this, no noise etc. Yes, I definitely will return here.

We stayed at this hotel before a few years ago and it is quite sad to see how much things have deteriorated since then. Let's begin: Breakfast: trying to get the eggs right is something I eventually gave up on. One would imagine that the person preparing the eggs can get the order right even if English is not their first language. Seemed impossible for them House keeping: a new first for me was that they refused to make up our rooms. Yes we did ask for it on the day we checked out, but for a five star hotel one would expect that this is possible. Turns out it is not Bogus Room charges: we got random items delivered to our room and they attempted to charge us for it. Same for our "nightly free drinks". We managed to clear it up in the end and weren't charged, but was a total hassle. Staff should not continuously make mistakes like this. So my strong recommendation is to ditch this place. Stay at the Marriott just down the road. We stayed there before as well, I would strongly recommend it over The Slate now.

So the resort is huge, rooms are good but the resort in itself is very dark and has very shady and less light. They do have many activities around. Less food options around but the beach opposite is quite good. They welcomed us quite well. The kids activity room is good too. It near to airport and offered us to drop off to airport so okay.

The Slate in Phuket offers a truly unique and visually stunning experience. The hotel grounds are breathtaking, with lush gardens and serene pools. The staff are incredibly attentive and friendly, particularly with children. Our infant son was adored by the waitstaff, who quickly learned his name. The hotel itself is also very child friendly with both sleeping cots, baby bath tubs, and even a kids centre on site. The culinary highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the Black Ginger Restaurant. The exquisite Thai cuisine was simply divine, and we were so impressed we returned for a second dinner. However, there were a few areas where The Slate could improve. The open-air design, while aesthetically pleasing, can be challenging for those who prefer air conditioning. While the rooms are climate-controlled, other common areas rely on fans, which may not be ideal for everyone, especially during warmer months. Additionally, we encountered some inconsistencies with the shower water temperature and pressure in our suite. And while the room service menu looked enticing, the actual delivery of a creme brulee one evening was quite disappointing, as evidenced by the attached photos. Despite these minor drawbacks, The Slate remains a remarkable destination for those seeking a luxurious and unforgettable getaway.
