We had a wonderful dining experience at a Japanese restaurant, and Modesta made it even better! She was our waitress, and her service was absolutely amazing. Modesta was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Her warm and welcoming attitude added a special touch to the evening. Thank you, Modesta, for making our dinner so enjoyable—we’ll definitely be back!

A beautiful resort overall, from the moment we pulled up to the gate we were in awe. Rooms are excellent, good size, comfortable and massive beds and great showers. Staff has been super friendly and helpful all over the resort. The food has been good but not necessarily great. The buffet has a large selection of foods and is well staffed to attend to your needs. The ale cart restaurants have been a little disappointing food wise. The Mexican Agave was good but not anything super special, whereas the La Dolce Vita (Italian) food was not great by any means but the service of Yaneth Garcia and Elsy Rodriguez made up for it with them even giving us a special dessert for our honeymoon. We are still yet to try the Japanese and French restaurants but have high hopes for them. Drinks at the resort are excellent but service can be a little slow if there are big lineups. The resort pages online can be a tad misleading as well making you think certain things are included in the base price but most are not. Overall a good experience though

Platinum lounge check in experience was 10/10. Pablo went over and beyond. Hotel and room is spotless. Grounds and beach are spotless. Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner, impossible to describe unless you have been here before. I have never seen so much food before and it’s very fresh. Endless options and the desserts are out of this world. Everything is kept full and fresh. I don’t drink but I can say that they look beautiful We weren’t able to get ideal restaurant reservation times as they are booked up quickly. The bar lounge is a nice place to sit after dinner but seats are very limited. The ocean temperature is perfect, a few rocks and a bit of seaweed but nothing that will bother you and the grounds crew works very hard on maintaining everything. I have to say, this is the best hotel I have stayed at in Mexico, hands down. Rooms are steps away from the pools and beach. Everything you need to relax and enjoy your vacation.

We’ve been to Barceló three times now and it’s always been a great stay. Buffet service every day was great especially in comparisons with the other hotels in the resort! Every breakfast and lunch, Lorenzo Ruiz & Augustin Perez were very attentive. I really enjoy iced coffee in the morning and both of them came to check to make sure it was made to my liking. They both also had a smile and nice attitude every time they checked on us!

The Good
Super clean and modern rooms and resort. Housekeeping is amazing. They are the stars of the show. The beach has powdered white sand and clear water and tons of palm trees for shade. Very minimal seaweed. The pools are huge and equipped with lots of lounge chairs. The à la cart restaurants had great service and the food was above average. I would suggest the Italian restaurant and the Japanese restaurant. Immaculate grounds.
The Not So Good
The resort doesn’t have a ton of nightlife or activities so if you’re looking for a place to keep you stimulated this is not the place. Checking in was painfully slow - it was not even busy. The buffet seems large until you walk through it and realize that there are multiple stations with the same dishes. Definitely average at best. The amenities on the resort are limited and If you like to workout the gym is super small (there is a kick ass gym on the resort that you have access to. It’s about a 15 minute walk and it is one of the best facilities I’ve seen in the Caribbean). As nice as the beach is, there are no umbrellas to supply shade so if you don’t get a chair by the trees, your SOL. One of the biggest disappointments is the à la cart restaurants required guys to wear long pants. This has to be one of my all-time pet peeves and there’s nothing worse than being away in a hot sticky destination and having to wear long pants. The most frustrating part about it is that woman could wear whatever they wanted including shorts and tank tops. It just made absolutely no sense. This was a huge turn off for me and in my opinion, just plain stupid. On the topic of restaurants, you need to book your à la cart restaurants in advance and to do so, you need wait at customer service which is always busy - super frustrating. The bartending staff are good but inconsistent. For example, I ordered a bloody Mary at four different bars and they were all made different - some were really good and others you were left scratching your head wondering if they got the order right. The rooms are clean, but the pillows are body pillows (super long and if you’re not accustomed to sleeping on them, they can get annoying and uncomfortable). I called front desk to order ‘normal’ sized pillows and they said they don’t have any??? Just weird.
Overall, the resort is a great option for those looking at an affordable, inclusive adults only getaway in Mexico.
