Our stay at Dreams Playa Mujeres was far from the relaxing vacation we had hoped for. From the moment we arrived, we were met with relentless sales pressure. The check-in process included an aggressive attempt to get us to attend a 90-minute timeshare sales pitch, disguised as a “welcome breakfast” with supposed spa discounts. When we declined, we were bombarded with daily calls to our room, pressuring us to attend and even misleading us by claiming we needed to confirm our airport transportation in person—just another attempt to get us into another sales pitch.
If you’re looking for peace and quiet, this is not the place for you. There is loud music playing everywhere—the pool, the beach, even the walkways between rooms have hidden speakers blaring music from the bushes. Inside our own room, we could still hear the pounding bass from the beach at 10 AM, making relaxation nearly impossible.
The resort is also severely overcrowded. Getting a table for dinner requires a wait of at least an hour and a half. Finding a lounge chair by the pool is a lost cause unless you wake up at 6 AM to claim one with a towel—something many guests do, then disappear for hours. The pool itself is packed and not well-maintained, and the beach is equally crowded, dirty, and noisy.
To top it off, the resort is filled with screaming, tantrum-throwing children, making it far from the luxury escape we had envisioned.
Overall, Dreams Playa Mujeres was a huge disappointment. If you’re looking for a relaxing, peaceful getaway with good service, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere.

I just attended a Wedding here and was kind of nervous after reading some of these reviews. However, I was blown away at this resort. The facilities are beautiful and the service was impeccable. We had a Double Queen Ocean View and it was plenty of space for 3 adults. The bathroom was nice because the Water Closet was separate so multiple people could be in the bathroom at once. My only complaint about the room is that there was not a separate mirror outside the bathroom. The best restaurants were Maris (Seafood) and the Hibachi at Fusion-make sure you book your reservation in the app right at 1:00PM. A bonus was getting to go to the Secrets Resort (Adults Only) next door to eat-Seaside Grill for Lunch and Market Cafe for the best Breakfast-try a Vanilla Iced Coffee! There is so much to do here-you never have to leave the resort. We had a massage at the Spa while my Dad played golf and it was perfect. We got to enjoy the Sauna and Steam Room as well as the Private Pool all to ourselves so make sure you arrive an hour before your appointment! Our excursion of choice was to Swim with the Dolphins and we were able to do this in the Ocean right on property! The pools never seemed crowded and there was never a problem finding a chair or cabana to lounge in. If you’re planning a Wedding this is a great family-friendly location and I would definitely come back.

The wedding ceremony was held at Dreams in 2021, and we have now come back to commemorate our son's first birthday. The staff exceeded our expectations in ensuring that our stay was both comfortable and unforgettable. Despite needing a cake for photos with less than 24 hours' notice, Ximena from the concierge kindly offered to purchase and deliver it the following morning. We were truly impressed by the exceptional level of service and accommodations provided throughout our stay. What sets Dreams apart from other resorts is the stunning views, top-notch services, and luxurious accommodations. We wholeheartedly recommend it. Additionally, Omar at the beach wrote "Happy Birthday" on a towel, making our son's birthday extra special. Yemila also decorated our cabana - such kind and amazing individuals!

I recently stayed at Dreams Resort in Playa Mujeres, and unfortunately, it felt more like a nightmare than a dream. From the very beginning, the staff continuously pushed the "Preferred Club" upgrade, which costs an additional $200 per day . Despite the regular amenities being great and the differences being minimal, the constant pressure to upgrade was frustrating and unnecessary. I felt like I was reminded of this upgrade daily, even though it wasn’t a fit for me.
Dining at the resort was another major issue. The restaurants operated on a first-come, first-serve basis, and the wait times were absurd—90 minutes or more. Without reservations, it was nearly impossible to enjoy a proper dining experience. In my seven-day stay, I only managed to eat at three restaurants because of the long lines. This left me relying heavily on room service, which was convenient but not what I expected from an all-inclusive resort. Paying for a premium vacation and ending up eating burgers in my room was disappointing, to say the least.
There was also an incident at one restaurant that soured my mood for the rest of the trip. While many staff members worked hard and were courteous, some were unhelpful and seemed to wield their authority to strictly enforce rules rather than accommodating guests. It was frustrating to encounter this attitude when all I wanted was to relax and enjoy my vacation.
For the price I paid—$5,600 for seven nights for myself and my child—I expected much more. Two years ago, we stayed at a nearby resort, where the food was fresh, the service was exceptional, and everything met or exceeded our expectations. I thought Dreams Resort would be a step up, but it turned out to be far worse.
The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the housekeeping staff did a great job. However, the overall experience—long waits, mediocre food, and an unwelcoming atmosphere—overshadowed the positives. The buffet was another disappointment, with leftovers seemingly repurposed and items like mashed potatoes tasting like instant mixes.
This trip has left me with no desire to return to Mexico, let alone this resort. If you're planning a vacation, I highly recommend exploring other options where you can truly enjoy fresh, quality food and better service. Save your money, time, and energy for a destination that delivers the relaxing and enjoyable experience you deserve.

I had my wedding here on January 11th and was incredibly impressed with the wedding department and all of our wedding events. All of our guests loved the resort and we had many remarks that it was the nicest all inclusive they have stayed at—even from seasoned resort-goers. I was very nervous about all of the bad reviews of the food and no one in our group experienced any issues with the food. At a family all inclusive this size you cannot expect luxury boutique resort quality food. The food was fine, the Brazilian restaurant and the seafood restaurant were our favourites. We tried one restaurant on secrets that was better overall, the Asian fusion one. The room services was average and often took an hour or longer.
The staff give a hard time if you try to dine in a group of 10+ people. On one hand I understand because they have lots of weddings (multiple a day) and cannot possible accommodate an entire wedding party at each restaurant every night. On the other hand, when that’s your main clientele, they should adapt to accommodate these large parties in some way. It wa s frustrating to show up to a restaurant in a group of 12 and have 2 sitting away from the group because we couldn’t add another table to the one for 10.
Preferred club is not worth it in my opinion. Not much different besides the lounge, breakfast at Meris and the lazy river.
Drinks were great. Ask for top shelf and you’ll get it.
Service was overall great, they came promptly when called for things such as turn down service.
I would recommend this resort to families looking for an upscale getaway or for a wedding. They really know what they are doing!
