This was our second time returning to dreams and we absolutely love this resort. Super Mario (Mario our bartender) is top notch. We absolutely love him and he is what keeps us coming back! He is very friendly and even taught us his recipes for spicy margaritas. From preparing us drinks without having to wave him down, to teaching us his ways- he is the best! The rooms are also very updated and modern. Secrets next door is under construction, but it isn’t bothersome as they are only loud during normal business hours. The food is great, I’m a food snob and don’t have anything to complain about. We walked into every restaurant with little to no wait and had great service.

The customer service, the facilities, the location are remarkable! Beautiful and well kept. Staff at all level friendly and helpful. The bad part is the food. Numerous people staying at resort came down with stomach bug/food poisoning. Even without it getting you sick, the best rating of their food is that it's okay. I lost four days of vacation while I was there, sick, dealing with several digestive issues. Great location but will not return due to the food issues.

Dreams Playa Mujeres Resort was really nice and had great amenities! However, I gave a score of 2 due to the Unlimited Vacation Club 90 minute sales presentation. My husband and I booked Dreams for our 6th year anniversary celebration. We arrived last Sunday in the morning and was welcomed by Valeria who was pleasant and extremely inviting. She explained that due to our early arrival our room was not yet ready and suggested areas we can eat and relax until then. Before heading to lunch we were passed off to a gentlemen at concierge who offered us free spa massages if we attended the 90 minute presentation and ensured us there was no obligations or pressure to buy. He stated, they wanted to show us what they had to offer so my husband and I agreed. The next morning we met with concierge to begin the presentation. They took us to an area to register in for the presentation and we were then introduced to our sales representative! As we walked to have breakfast he asked us to have an open mind and give him the opportunity to show us what the preferred membership had to offer, in which my husband and I did! The sales rep went on to show us amazing rooms, amenities, perks and lounges that were offered to preferred members only. My husband and I were both interested. My husband inquired about the pricing of program membership and we went back to the vacation club office to discuss packages. When we arrived to the office the rep showed us all the locations they have across the World. The manager then came over with package options and prices for down payment. Once we saw the prices, we knew we would not be able to afford the membership due to our existing financial obligations. We explained this and told them at the moment we can’t afford to join but their program looks good. This is where things took a turn for the worst!!! The manage then told us we can put down half the deposit and work on paying the rest later, my husband stated that we will past and maybe later in our future, once we completed some other obligations we would consider joining. The manager thanked us for our time and then called our sales rep back over. We explained to the rep again we couldn’t justify taking on another financial obligation. He said “if you’re not honest about how much you’re traveling then it wouldn’t make sense but it would be crazy to past on this deal!”. As we wrapped things up in the office. The sales rep walked us back to the registration area to collect our spa vouchers that was offered to us for doing the presentation. The sales rep then ask my husband “were you interested in the program or were you just capping?” Basically calling my husband a liar. My husband again explained we have other projects that is keeping us from making a decision at this moment. He goes on to tell my husband “you know this is how I support my family, right?” Taken aback, my husband wished him nothing but success in his endeavors. When we got to the registration spot, the sales rep stated “next time if you are not serious about buying, don’t waste our time!”. My husband and I were completely confused and uncomfortable. As we were not the ones looking to do the presentation in the first place and was offered by the hotel. My husband and I have stayed at multiple Hyatt resorts over the years and continued to return due to treatment and quality of the hotel. This time I did not feel valued as a customer! My husband and I are planning a large group vacation for my daughter’s graduation trip next year and for the first time, I’m considering other franchises due to the treatment we receive during this encounter. My recommendation is if you do book the resort don’t attend the sales presentation because despite being told no obligations, they became pushy and rude towards the end! Save yourself the headache and truly enjoy your trip.

Beautiful resort with really comfortable, spacious rooms, multiple pools, and a gorgeous beach with a beautiful view of Isla Mujeres. The staff were also incredibly helpful, welcoming and kept the resort looking immaculate. The major downfall was the food. We ate at every single restaurant at the resort and there was not a meal that didn’t leave us incredibly disappointed. For the price we paid to stay here we would have expected the food to be at least decent but it was worse than Disneyland food and more comparable to hospital food at best. The drinks tasted extremely artificial and were extremely inconsistent as they don’t measure anything they put in, the pina colada was like drinking perfume. The best thing there was were the make-your-own tacos during breakfast at the World Cafe buffet as well as the ceviche during the dinner buffet. Another letdown was the lack of things to do besides just sitting or swimming at the beach or by the pool. My husband and I have travelled extensively around the world and we typically try and experience everything the area has to offer but being at Dreams felt more like we were trapped at an overpriced American hotel with nothing to do, rather than in Mexico. There are of course many excursions they offer for an additional cost so we did a boat trip to Isla Mujeres which was easily the highlight of the trip, but was an additional $300 usd for the half day excursion. This was our first time in an all inclusive resort as we came here to attend a wedding, but it was a good learning experience for us that we will never go to a resort again. We could not wait to go home which has never been the case on any of our trips before. There are lots of activities for kids so maybe with children it would be a better experience. For the price you pay, it is NOT worth it.

First time trip to Cancun and we decided to go all out and stay at Dreams Playa Mujeres for a 5-day trip, and while there were some positives, unfortunately our experience was largely overshadowed by health issues. Out of our group of 10, six of us came down with food poisoning during the stay. The last three days were a complete loss as several people were too sick to enjoy anything. We ended up spending quite a bit at the gift shop on Imodium and electrolytes, and noticed other guests buying Pedialyte — which makes us wonder how widespread this issue may be. On the bright side, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and we really enjoyed the on-site coffee shop. The French and Mediterranean restaurants stood out — very clean and the food was good. However, I had a poor experience at the Asian restaurant where my scallop dish was slimy and rubbery. The beach was another downside. While I understand that seaweed is a natural issue, the plastic trash floating in the water was disappointing. It seems the resort could make more effort to clean this up. Unfortunately, based on the food safety concerns and beach conditions, we likely won’t be returning. Disappointed overall, especially considering how excited we were for this trip.
