The beach and pools were great, but the room was not clean—there was mold in the corners. The restaurants were very busy, and I was only able to get a reservation for one restaurant on one night. We were told the others were fully booked. Don’t fall for the claim that they have six restaurants; it’s misleading you are not going to be able to enjoy them.

**Hotel Review**
I recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful hotel and I couldn't be happier with my experience! I would definitely rate it five stars. The beach is absolutely stunning, making it a perfect spot for families to enjoy. However, I should mention that the waves can be quite strong, so it might not be the best for little ones.
The rooms were impeccably clean, which added to the overall comfort of our stay. The staff here are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The food was delicious, although the selection was somewhat limited, it was always fresh and tasty.
Overall, this hotel is a fantastic choice for a couple getaway, and I highly recommend it!

Just got back from a 3 night stay at the Occidental Caribe. This was my 5th time in Punta Cana, first time at this resort. This resort is pretty big. You will get your steps in. The resort is very pretty on the outside. Keep in mind this resort is 25 years old. The rooms need A LOT of TLC. The bathrooms are dated and dirty. The buffets were not the best. I would recommend the pool side grill for lunch, or the Pizzeria. The pizza was outstanding. You can find something on the buffet to tickle your fancy, but don't expect to be wowed. This resort is located on the Atlantic Ocean side, so expect a lot of wind and somewhat rough water. The best description for this resort is POTENTIAL. It is beautiful and offers excellent guest service, but many things need to be improved.

Beautiful views and good service ! Food is good but the buffet line can get long. The rooms are okay but the rest of the resort and the shows are wonderful. The beach is clean and the pools are well kept.

Don’t come here.
The rooms are awful. We called every day to reception to beg for soap, towels, and bottled water that was never left by the cleaning staff. The rooms themselves were straight out of the 80s and hadn’t had much maintenance since then - drawers that didn’t open, light bulbs that didn’t work, plugs that didn’t function. It almost seemed planned that our phone didn’t work, so we were forced to walk 5 buildings to reception to request a minimally serviced room.
The food was recycled daily. For example, unused chicken from the previous night was served the next morning in the “chicken gelatin” which seemed ever-present (likely because who would touch a concoction that awful). Two of our group of three got travelers diarrhea from the low hygiene standards. The staff were clearly unprepared for the number of diners. The wait staff strictly enforced the rule that they would not refill water, coffee, or give utensils at their service stations when approached and always redirected you to sit at your table and wait for them, but they never came. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner was a constant battle of raising hands for waiters and making desperate hand motions of “I’m thirsty! Please, water!” Or “Please bring me a spoon! I can’t eat soup with only this fork.” The restaurants were minimally better since there was a more favorable wait staff to diner ratio, though the food remained with something to be desired (I’m thinking about the “turkey rolls” in the French restaurant which was Oscar Meyer’s turkey chopped and rolled in more Oscar Meyers). The wine tasted of cheap vinegar mixed with grain alcohol. I’m guessing it was chosen because it came in bottles and gave the perception of quality, though 99% of box wines would have been a large step up.
On the positive, the animator/activity staff were delightful. The dance shows were fun. Beach access was abundant. Not enough to make us come back here, though.
