We made our very first trip to Jamaica and our very first stay at a Sandals resort. We were there in January 2025, and the weather was absolutely perfect. To say the experience was absolutely amazing, is an understatement. The service ,food, and amenities, were top notch. We take a lot of cruises and we didn’t think service could be any better than a cruise, but boy, were we wrong. The staff at Ochi Seaside were so attentive and pleasant. One of our favorite people we met there was a bartender named Sashaye. She was so funny and friendly and made our time there so much fun!! We did a couple of excursions and had no issues with transportation or getting to the locations on time. We were so impressed with all aspects of the trip, that we booked another trip for next year at the new Dunn’s River resort. If you have a doubts or apprehensions, don’t! Book it, you will not be disappointed.

We had a great time! The staff were courteous & entertaining! Food was really good and there was a wide variety to choose from. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy, or you could just sit back and relax. We're going back!

We ended up enjoying our vacation overall, but a few things to be aware of when booking. First, there are two parts of the hotel one of which sits on a hillside and the other is the beach side. We didn’t know this so we booked a room on hillside. Overall we enjoyed our villa (see below for more information about that) so we were ok with the trek, but it is annoying to have to get on a shuttle every time we had to go back and forth from the beach to our room . They do operate pretty frequently though.
When we got to our room, it was the first room closest to the lobby stairs and we could hear EVERYTHING from the lobby. When I initially went downstairs to let them know I could hear everything, they told me to not worry and that it would be over by 11pm every night (mind you I had been traveling for 12 hours that day and just wanted to sleep.) on top of that the hot water in our shower didn’t work and the room was so small we could barely fit our luggage in it. Certainly not as advertised. I told them this wasn’t acceptable and they had to move us further away from the lobby and they ended up moving us to one of the private villas which was very nice.
The food is average. Breakfast lacked in many ways, the grill on the hillside is wonderful, and we loved the French and sushi restaurants. Entertainment was hit or miss. Resort definitely had a party vibe, which I didn’t mind. Overall I would say it’s your standard all inclusive resort. Would go back, but would absolutely stay on the beach side in a more expensive room.

We have been to 5 Sandals resorts, but this was our first time at Ochi, and we were very pleasantly surprised. The resort and rooms are older, but it was a great value for the money. We stayed on the beach side and the view was amazing. We took the Hop to the hillside to go to the Rabbit Hole, which was a super cool experience, so swanky.
The staff made this an exceptional trip. Special recognition to Sherique at Club Sandals, Jovan at Loyalty, Alloy at Kelly’s Dockside, Sidney at Vista Sky, and Tease at Vista Sky. The entire entertainment staff was exceptional, never a dull moment. We left with many fond memories.

It's understood that Ochi is the most budget friendly Sandals resort. This resort is split into two parts - beachside and hillside.
Room (Beachside): We initially booked the Honeymoon Hideaway Luxury Club Level Garden Cottage which was a bit outdated. The problem we encountered for our specific room was that the bathroom window did not close fully, the toilet did not flush properly and the tv channels were static and unclear. It took some time but we were eventually put into a new room (Riviera Grande Luxe) in the main building. This room had a tropical garden view and it was clean and modern. The beds were HIGH lol. Like I used a chair to get on and off the bed or my fiancé pulled me on lol. Not a negative, just a bit comical. You do not need to bring toiletries to this resort. There Red Lane products provided are great! Beautiful smell and they are replenished every day.
Beachside: The beachside is broken up into 3 main areas along the shoreline. We mainly stayed on the right side but occasionally went into the middle to snorkel. I would definitely recommend bringing your snorkel mask and mouthpiece. They do have it for purchase in their giftshops. The snorkeling off the shoreline was great. We saw conch, starfish, schooling fish, puffer fish, lion fish, stingray, etc. It was quite impressive. They also offer (for free) to take you out on the water for snorkeling as well.
Restaurants: To be honest, we were not wow'd by the restaurants. It does have many to choose from but nothing "amazing". Note: you have to book reservations at majority of the restaurants here and they book up fast.
Our favourite place ended up being at Soy Sushi Bar. We went there three times during out visit. The sushi was fresh, the chicken kaarage was one of our favs, and you MUST get the fried banana dessert. Dino's Pizza was not good. We tried out Vista Sky the first night we were there and it was an ok surf and turf meal. Manor had a decent selection of Jamaican dishes. This is located on hillside. Try here if you want to taste Jamaican cuisine. The Southern Grill was underwhelming. Some of the appetizers were ok, the main dishes were meh. The fried chicken was not crispy at all, pretty disappointing. We went to Valentino's on our anniversary and, again, the food was ok but nothing special. The Mariner is were we got our lunchtime snacks. On our last day, we went to The Jerk Shack and we enjoyed the jerk chicken and the sausage. The festivals and their rum punch drink were pretty good as well.
Resort: It's pretty easy to move between the two sections of the resort with the Hop. The grounds are clean. The staff were always friendly. Our preferred pool was the one towards the middle on the beachside. It was always clean in comparison to the one with the swim-up bar on the right side, close to the pizza place. It's to be noted that there are only a few air conditioned areas other than your room. During our stay, the weather was great even though the weather app said it was going to thunderstorm every day. There were no mosquitoes while we were there. The resort at night is more on the sleepier side. Very quite and relaxing. The wifi is terrible. It's almost non-existent to catch wifi in the room. I ended up tethering to my fiancé's work phone.
Excursions: There are many excursions that you can book. We didn't partake in the norms like Dunn's River, Bob Marley's House, Luminous Lagoon, Botanical Gardens, etc. We did those on our previous visit. We paid $20USD/pp which took us to shop for a few hours at a local market and at a designated shopping center. The local shop keepers are very pushy. In my opinion, the designated areas are the preferred places to shop. We also went to KFC which I highly recommend. It was super tasty but don't go on a Friday. It's crazy busy and the wait is ridiculous.
Overall, I would recommend this resort if you haven't tried the Sandals brand before but you could probably get similar accommodations for a cheaper price at other resorts.
