Look no further if you’re looking for a perfect all inclusive in Mexico. I rarely give reviews but felt compelled to for this hotel. This is a beautiful resort with the best hospitality staff I’ve ever had. Level of service was 100%, and everyone was very friendly. The food was great for an all inclusive - every day there was great food prepared for special events like BBQs, Mexican festivals, etc. We actually rarely ate at the restaurants for this reason. When we did it was still delicious. The beach was beautiful and we never had issues getting a seat or chair (we usually arrived by 9-10am). I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and this place reset my benchmark for a great hotel. I hope to be back next year.

We spent a fabulous, relaxing week at Secrets Akumal January 5-12. The resort is beautiful and fairly spread out, but you get familiar with the layout very quickly. There are a variety of beautiful pools and great restaurants . We found the food very good. Especially the daily food event/buffet held near the bigger pool. We particularly enjoyed the "fish fry!" So yummy and offered a huge variety of entrees & sides.
We loved spending time at the beach also, and booked a guided/ private snorkeling tour with the sea turtles one morning...which was an incredible experience! (Isabella and our other male guide were terrific)The snorkeling is awesome! ( we saw a variety of sea turtles, stingrays, puffer fish, etc)
There's also entertainment events throughout the week, which we didn't spend that much time on...but the poolside "Beatles" show" tribute was fun to watch.
We were extremely impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of ALL the staff, but a few did stand out.
Antonio was our pool Concierge and was extremely attentive and helpful. (He recommended the fish fry 😋) Efrom was our beach server and equally great. Fernando (our building #9 Concierge) was also very attentive, informative, friendly, and helpful.
We'd rate this a 5 in every aspect and hope to return someday.

HONEYMOON!
Wow there are not enough amazing things I can say about this resort. We aren't typically resort people, but the level of intentional care, service and quality of everything was unmatched. The location alone was perfect the beach is stunning and you can see turtles and sting rays directly off the resorts beach - bring your own snorkel gear! (They also rent some there) Plus the architecture was so beautiful. The base rooms have so many amenities, we didn't feel the need to upgrade to preferred club, and didn't feel like we missed out on much.
The food is incredible, all the restaurants had a wide variety of options to choose from, and we found that they had a lot of vegetarian and gluten free options if that's important to you.
We loved the size of the resort, there was so much to do and see each day. Plus if you like going for walks, there are tons of pathways. They do a really wonderful job of making sure you have options for entertainment, we had a silent disco, shows, activities you name it. Also their live musicians were outstanding.
We loved that there were multiple pools with different energy levels, so we could choose which one we wanted to go to depending on what we were looking for that day. We never had a problem finding chairs, and staff were very attentive in finding them for you if the pool was very full.
I could go on and on, but overall it was such a fantastic experience. We hope to go back again!

Secrets Akumal is a little far if traveling from Cancun, but it's worth the trip. The resort is sprawling but is very well laid out. We enjoyed the activities and service around the pool. We were fortunate to be there during one of their Mexican celebration nights and it was a great experience. If we could do it over again, we would go to the Japanese restaurant every night. The food was far and away the best and the service was great. We did not enjoy the Italian restaurant. The coffee shop was also a nice treat. We also really enjoyed the acoustic band that they had at the lounge.
Secrets is one of the only resorts surrounding the protected turtle area, making it extra special. Bring your own snorkel gear or walk down the beach and rent some.
In the room, we really enjoyed the large jacuzzi tub. We unfortunately were in a building that seemed to be having some plumbing issues. The entrance to the rooms are also in hallways across from each other. This means that if you have neighbors that are in and out and don't know how to close the door softly, you might be woken up throughout the night.

This was the best vacation ever. The resort is beautiful. The staff was over the top amazing; always happy, greeted me by name in every passing. I never had to wait to order nor had a problem finding help. Our concierge was so sweet and helpful. The pools were immaculately kept as well as the tropical landscape. Every meal was delicious with a grand variety of options. The entertainment and daily events were so well coordinated and fun.
