My husband and I went to Secrets Akumal Rivera Maya for our honeymoon and had an incredible time! The staff was incredible and made sure everything was perfect for our trip. Our concierge, Fernanda, checked in with us regularly and was able to help with any accommodations we needed. We had the best time at the manatee pool bar with the bartenders Bernardo and Mario who were not only super friendly and attentive but also really fun! We also enjoyed our hibachi dinner with chef David and our breakfasts at Seaside grill with Alberto. The people at this resort made our trip so much better and we were sad to leave them! The property was absolutely stunning too! Make sure to bring a snorkel so you can swim with the sea turtles while you’re there! Can’t wait for our next trip, we will definitely be back!!

We just stayed here for a week and it was amazing. The resort and beach are beautiful. There was absolutely no seaweed and the weather was great. The entertainment team was amazing, especially Abraham, Max, Gina, Carlos, & Gabriel. They made all of the activities so fun and made our stay even better. Our personal concierge was Leidy and she was amazing and so helpful. Would 100% recommend this resort!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Secrets Akumal, and it was an unforgettable experience. The resort is stunningly beautiful and perfectly designed, striking the ideal balance between spaciousness and intimacy. It's large enough to offer a variety of options without feeling overwhelming.
What truly set this trip apart was the exceptional staff. There was a warm smile around every corner, and their willingness to assist made us feel genuinely welcomed. The dining experience was remarkable; I can honestly say I didn’t have a single bad meal all week. The variety and quality of the food exceeded my expectations.
The pool area was fantastic, with a great selection that catered to all preferences. Moises, Miguel, Cruz, and Ana at the quiet pool were particularly outstanding, providing attentive service that made our afternoons truly relaxing and enjoyable. Their charm and dedication to guest satisfaction made us feel special every day.
Dining was another highlight, thanks to Diego and Otoniel. They brought fun and laughter to each meal, transforming dinner into a family-like experience. Their hospitality and warmth added a personal touch that made each evening memorable.
Our concierge, Sergio, in Building 9, went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. His attentiveness made us feel like we were his top priority, and his informative suggestions led to special memories throughout our stay. He even surprised us with delightful little touches that added to the magic of our vacation.
We also had the chance to snorkel with Gina and Carlos, who took us on an unforgettable tour to see the turtles. Their infectious energy made the experience even more special than we had anticipated. They are truly gems among the staff.
Overall, it’s hard to find any negatives about Secrets Akumal. Every aspect of our stay was filled with positives, and I can wholeheartedly recommend this resort to anyone seeking a luxurious and memorable getaway. It was worth every penny. One of the better hotels along this stretch of coast. Lost a star, I will explain:
5* The staff absolutely make this place. So friendly, so welcoming, polite, attentive. A huge credit to the hotel staff.
5* The all inclusive drink selection. Anything you can imagine, top brands, no compromise. Well trained bar staff (cocktails etc)
4* The rooms. We upgraded when we booked to a junior suite. However, it was a lovely room, king bed and jacuzzi in the room etc., but it's a bit of a stretch to call this a suite.
5* The grounds. This place is, and is kept immaculate. The grounds give a real tropical vibe, lots of fauna to admire, wildlife to watch. The staff are constantly cleaning and tidying the grounds.
5* location. Right on the Akumal beach. Turtles to be seen just yards away from the beach. Snorkeling a bit limited in front of the hotel, but better if you swim out 50 metres or so.
5* The beach. Clean, raked every morning. Really comfy sun beds and plenty of them. Waiter service on the beach.
5* The pools. Loud and noisy, no problem. Quiet and serene, no problem either. There are 3 pools with different ambience each, take your pick.
5* The cafe. Open 24 hours, and serving great coffees, hot and cold, snacks, treats, ice cream etc.
5* Adults only (assuming that's what you want)
3* The only let down for us, was that the food wasn't (consistently)that great. I had "fried fish" at the seafood grill, and it was like someone had literally dragged something out of the water, scored it, and deep fried it to within a whisker of incineration. It was terrible. The Mexican restaurant (how ironic) was awful. However the French, Japanese, and the Seafood restaurants were very good. I stop short of excellent, they were "good".
Don't let any of this put you off. This is a great hotel, and I highly recommend staying here.

This is by far our favorite resort. It is so clean, beautiful, and relaxing. We love the jungle feel that makes it seem less busy. The rooms are spacious and so clean. They provide great things like shampoo, conditioners, body wash, tooth brush, toothpaste, etc. the staff are so kind and always looking to help.
The morning cross training class is a must while you are there!
We love the Japanese restaurant. The sushi is to die for!
About 1 hour 20 minutes from Cancun airport. Tulum is about 45 minutes.
It is for sure a 5 star resort!
