A Disappointing Experience at Segara Village Hotel, Sanur
This is the first negative review I have ever felt compelled to write. Unfortunately, my experience at Segara Village Hotel was deeply disappointing compared to other Bali resorts, this was by far the worst.
The biggest issue was the repeatedly poor customer service and intrusive policies. On two consecutive nights, hotel staff called my bungalow at 9:00 PM to demand immediate payment for a coconut drink I'd had at the resort pool during the day and the next night, for an extra room reception they'd earlier assured me would be charged to my credit card they had on file.
This was not only inconvenient but also inconsiderate. I had a sleeping three-year-old granddaughter in my room. The issue stemmed from their own internal mismanagement: earlier in the day, I was asked for my room number instead of payment when ordering at the pool. Rather than resolving this in a professional and guest-friendly manner, they panicked at night and disturbed my peace. Shockingly, over a $3 NZ coconut water, my offer to settle the bill in the morning was refused and a staff member turned up at my door with a mobile cash machine.
As a company director, I recognize when a business has serious operational flaws, and Segara Village Hotel’s payment system is poorly managed. Chasing guests late at night over small charges is both unprofessional and unacceptable.
Bali is known for its warmth and hospitality, but sadly, this hotel felt more like Disneyland without a heart. Polished on the surface but completely lacking in genuine care for its guests.

I can really only rate this resort/hotel a 3 it's very tired and needs a makeover. I was excited to come and spend time at the pool bar, but the stone was all broken, the canopy over the bar was filthy and the tile on the bar top and seats were dirty and the tile was cracking. The whole resort needs a good power wash and the rooms need to be renovated. It felt like a 3 star if anything.
The pools were nice and the restaurant looked nice, but the food was terrible. The sitting area in front of the beach was nice. I noticed all the cushions need to be cleaned including the ones by the pools they're absolutely filthy. The only reason I can give 3 stars is because the service was good, pools were nice and they upgraded our room after giving us a room in such poor condition.
I absolutely wouldn't recommend this place or comeback unless it had a revamp. I felt ripped off more than anything for a little cheaper we could've stayed at "The Grand Mercure" sure it's not in Sanur, but would've been the better bet and a top notch 5 star resort.
This is my second time in Bali and I don't think I'll comeback. The roads and sidewalks need to be fixed, the airport process was just such a headache compared to 2018 and the taxes are ridiculous compared to everywhere else. We dined at a lot of nice restaurants and felt the price didn't match the quality. The beaches also look really sad and ruined. I'll stick to Vietnam when it comes to food quality beautiful beaches and nice resorts.

Beautiful stay and in a perfect location. The staff were friendly there was plenty for us to do and the pools never felt crowded. The Byrd house is just beautiful to stare at and the food was brilliant.
Only a 5 min walk from icon mall which is a great place to escape the heat.
The bungalow we stayed in was spacious and clean.
The property is stunning and there is a large group of staff that are constantly keeping it in pristine condition.
Would 100% stay here again

Clean, kids friendly, multiple pools, warm staff, good restaurant on premises (even though I’d prefer them to drop “Italian label” and just keep with Asian food - but that’s a taste preference. Good value for money. Only downside is that rooms are pretty small compared to what you can get around Bali.

We picked this hotel as the first few days in our 1 month Bali trip, even though the weather is pretty bad and we got our flight cancelled, the warm welcome from the staff and compensation of the missing 1 night is good enough for us to still stay on the positive side. Because hotel allows us to use the one night fee as credit to spend in the hotel we tried both spa and several times to restaurant. The pool is nice and they have reasonable kids play ground and a small kindergarten. During the rainy season this villa type of place very hard to keep dry so for me I can’t have a good night sleep but I think nothing to complain for the hotel. Worth to mention, The roundabout in front of the hotel entrance is very narrow and the design of the hotel entrance is not luggage friendly.
