I recently stayed at The Sankara Resort in Ubud for five nights in a Deluxe Room, and it was a fantastic experience. While the hotel may not be the newest, it has the authentic charm of an Ubud retreat, with beautiful gardens, a lovely pool, and well-maintained rooms that are quite spacious—especially compared to newer hotels.
The facilities were great, with the added bonus of complimentary morning yoga classes (though no gym on-site). The à la carte breakfast was included in the rate and offered a wide range of options, from continental to Indian and Indonesian dishes, which was a nice touch.
The location was ideal for those wanting a peaceful stay while still being close to central Ubud. It’s about a 25-minute walk or a short Grab ride to the main area, and there are also other dining options nearby.
The highlight of my stay was definitely the staff. Their warmth and friendliness showcased true Balinese hospitality, always eager to help and ensure a great experience.
Overall, The Sankara Resort offers great value for money, and I highly recommend it for a relaxing Ubud getaway.

Our stay at this hotel was absolutely exceptional, and the credit goes to the incredible team that made everything so seamless and enjoyable.
The reception staff were warm and professional, ensuring a smooth check-in and always ready to assist with a smile. The restaurant team was outstanding – attentive, friendly, and delivering impeccable service along with delicious meals.
Even the drivers were courteous and punctual, making transportation effortless. Every staff member, from housekeeping to management, seemed genuinely committed to providing the best experience possible.
Their teamwork and dedication truly set this hotel apart. I felt valued as a guest and couldn’t have asked for more. A perfect stay – highly recommended!

My family and I had a TERRIBLE experience at this resort. First and foremost the pictures on the website are not recent photos. Our rooms were dirty and the bathroom is technically outside. Bugs and cats are everywhere. There is construction going on next door and banging all day long.
SECURITY STAFF AND HOUSEKEEPING entered a room and stole money out of the safe. They have a master key so be careful NOT to put important items in the safe. Management was aware but stood by her staff further letting us know that this is a norm for this resort. Law enforcement was also notified. THIS RESORT TARGETS TOURIST! Please be mindful when booking with local resorts because there is nothing you can do.
You are not safe at this hotel. The SECURITY STAFF are the thieves.

We had a wonderful stay for 4 nights in a Deluxe pool villa. The resort is peaceful and beautiful. All staff were very friendly and attentive. Food from The Kumbah Restaurant was delicious and we enjoyed the traditional dancers and acoustic duo providing entertainment.
It is located away from central Ubud which is exactly what we wanted. Hotel provides a shuttle and it was quick and easy to get a Grab.
Just a heads up, there are quite a lot of stairs so it would not suit visitors with mobility issues.
The perfect resort to just relax! 💕

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!
I wish I didn’t have to give this place any Stars because even one is too many! My friends and I checked into this resort for what was supposed to be a six night stay, but upon arrival we noticed that the property looked nothing like the online pictures and videos. That was Red flag number one. We had all upgraded our rooms to include the private pool, but we did not expect two of the rooms to not have a wall in the bathroom, just a blind that didn’t go all the way down to keep out the cats that are on the property. Red flag number two. Tranquil it was not! There was construction going on all day, and at night you could hear the music from the main pool area until 10:00 or 11:00 pm, as well as other people talking all night while laying in bed. That was only the first night.
The second morning my friends and I left very early for an excursion and when we returned that evening we found that the Security staff had entered one of the rooms and Stole $2000 from the safe. When we reported this to management it seemed as if she didn’t know what to do at first, but after she had a meeting with the trifling security person she actually accused us of taking the money and had all of the staff standing around watching and laughing at the situation, and on top of this she had the nerve to tell us that we could not check out of the Resort. No No No we were not staying where we did not FEEL SAFE, BEEN ROBBED, and RIDICULED by the staff. The level of UNPROFESSIONALISM and LACK OF MORALS by all staff was amazing and I would not recommend this Resort!
