This hotel was recommended to us by our travel agent as a place to unwind after touring Singapore, Sydney and New Zealand for five weeks. The Westin did not disappoint… the location is fabulous, the room was large, the food excellent and the staff could not have been more accommodating and helpful. A very special mention to Estelle and Tijn on the front desk who were quite simply delightful from the first point of meeting at check in to the end of our week’s holiday when they came out to wave us off in our taxi. These two young people are an absolute credit to the Westin Hotel. We will be back.

Mixed reviews for this property. I stayed over a super busy period so I understand how hectic things can get so let me begin with the great… Spectacular views, very helpful staff who are always smiling. Nice quiet beach. Great pool.m and well maintained grounds. Westin lounge at the domestic airport is nice perk too. Now on to what needs improvement. Needs renovation urgently. Mattress was sunken such that I had a feeling I would roll off the bed most times and struggled to sleep over a three night stay. Bathroom was 🙃😳. The plumbing was noisy and stains in some areas. In general this is a three star stay and should I return to langkawi, I’d definitely go to a newer hotel or different brand

Absolutely gorgeous location and views from this hotel, beds were comfy. Service was sometimes middling for a property with low occupancy, but everyone was very tolerant of our loud kids in the party. There weren't too many restaurants for a hotel this size (3 I think), but the most pleasant surprise was the Indian food. We had a vegetarian in our group, and Chef Mahesh came out personally every meal to customize what we needed. Every Indian dish was authentic and well done. Worked for the kids, Indians, Japanese and Singaporeans in our group!

*Amended review as stay got better after not so great start. This shouldn’t put you off from staying here as it was just customer service which I felt should have been better when checking in* Upon checking into the hotel, we were warmly greeted by a lovely staff member named Farrah. She was exceptionally kind and helpful during the check-in process. However, we had to return to reception and speak to the manager Badrul Amin as our room wasn’t cleaned throughly and there was a toothpick on the floor along with some breadcrumbs. When speaking to Badrul Amin, his approach was rather confrontational. As I tried to explain the situation, he frequently interrupted with unhelpful comments. After providing my room number and finally being allowed to detail the issue, he apologised for the lack of cleanliness and offered us an upgraded room for two nights as compensation. This is not something we wanted, we simply just wanted the room to be cleaned, but he offered this to us to apologise for the inconvenience. Once he upgraded us 2 days later, he did apologise following a negative review I left on google as I was taken back by the way he spoke to me. However, I do feel his apology was genuine as he put in a massive effort to make up for it during our stay which is why I have amended the review. While Farrah stood out for her professionalism and helpfulness, my interactions with the other staff members like Miza who was not helpful and didn’t seem like she wanted to assist us when speaking to her at reception. When checking out of the hotel we dealt with a staff member called Syafiq Akamal who was really amazing. He was very smiley and helpful which I feel it is very important when you work at reception. When checking into the hotel, I did leave a 1 star negative review due to my encounter with the manager Badrul Amin & Mizra but I have now changed this to 4 stars as I feel the hotel has made my stay better for the remaining days I was there.

The location is very beautiful. The staff I met were excellent and I felt were striving to provide the best service. The breakfast selection was one of the best I have seen. I ate in the restaurant two evenings and used the poolside bar. Service was great. The room was clean (inside, balcony another matter) but a little tired. I could see renovation work in progress in another part of the hotel so I may have been unlucky with the allocation. The lack of a gym was surprising but I was on a short stay so not personally an inconvenience. Some will probably disagree but I was not a fan of the local monkey population visiting the balcony in the morning and leaving their mess on the handrail. Perhaps a word of warning to guests at least, and perhaps discourage other guests from giving them food which no doubt attracts them. What I really didn't like was the "offer" to pre-purchase spending in hotel to get a net discount by way of a top-up from Marriott. While I understand the business objective of increasing take up of services in house (which were pretty quiet considering the breakfast time rush); I found the conditions to be coercive. 1) Had to buy in on the day of check-in. 2) No top-ups, which I thought counterintuitive, unless the object is to achieve revenue through... 3) No refunds, all unspent monies are forfeit. So I was being asked to gamble 20% discount versus losing my stake money, if I overestimated. To add further annoyance on check out I found that any tips I had made were not covered by the advance payment and were added to the outstanding bill for room tax etc. I felt like I was being squeezed for literally the last penny. Very off putting of the product as a whole and as a result I cannot whole heartedly recommend Westin.
